i hope ratpith wont cost like 30 divines or something

This thread filled with people who haven't actually read the warlock of the mist skill details that give you "all spells cast have added phys damage equal to 75% of the health cost used to spend it." So basically every spell can now be turned into a health stacking build with the right support gems.

it'll only be used with reap though.

I think there's going to be people trying it with Penance brand, Seismic Trap, Exsanguinate, and explosive trap of magnitude so far. Seismic Trap might have a use case for it too as you generally already ran lifetap with ST so it's basically a 25% more damage modifier once you factor in you get your life cost to about 200 assuming you use Lifetap, woke brutality, empower and 2 other supports.
Penance brand is too cheap, unless there is a cast cost override i'm not aware of (in which case you could use it on anything)

The reason Reap is so likely is its already very expensive due to having a life cost, you can double this again by putting lifetap on it same for exsanguinate.

I think the others will come out in the wash as better going another route, you can get a big chunk of phys from battlemage/spellblade already that will be comparable.

that means you need to use entire ascendy to make a skill work when you can just use ratpith and use the socked ascendy instead

im pretty sure socked ascendy is gonna be the most broken ascendy becuz you can stack 3 of the same charms
Yes, but they will also be super expensive.
Rathpith doesnt even seem good for this ascendancy. Sacrifice 4% of life wont do anything since its not increasing the cost of skill, those are 2 separate mechanics. 10% life increase is less of a deal than you think, if it said "more life" that would be different story but it doesnt.

Also i imagine it would be used more with traps. Explosive trap is already nice skill.

do you know what niche means? it means it works for only very few specific builds but life stacking now works for alot of builds with the new gem changes

Already worked with a lot of builds even without the changes. Yet barely any build makes use of the shield cause there are better and more efficient ways for like pretty much every build to scale dmg. This is why it's so niche and will end up used on the same two or maybe three niche builds as before along with a few players doing some experimental stuff. The item was only slightly popular this league because of hexblast mines being "meta" cause players love to worship and follow their favorite streamer xyz's builds lol.
Even the life based ascendency is already dead on arrival and only just a pick for very niche cases especially with the wildwood primalist choices of more power in different ways.
Flames and madness. I'm so glad I didn't miss the fun.
