i think it was crucible? the 2 worst leagues we had lately IMO so it makes me wonder how accurate these supposed numbers are

i think reason this 2 leagues had good numbers is because it had most op and most broken items in them of all times. if not for stupidly crazy power spikes and rewards they would be dead on arrival , since thats was all it offered league mechanics wear total crapshoot

yeah true, crucible had that totem trap build and this league also has some weird cheese build for the mechanic.

is this is what defines a good league for people? have a broken OP cheese build ?
crucible didnt even have a league mechanic and tota is just awful. people only like it for the rewards. personally i found it so boring that i stopped at a low rank so i didnt even get to see any good rewards

I actually got back to PoE because of crucible.. though I joined a week before Crucible ended, so didn't get to enjoy the mechanics all that much :S Shame though, the weapon talent tree looked so fun to play around (I only got to make one for my RF Jugg)

Those numbers come from steamcharts. Granted its "only" 60% of players but its good enough sample size. Your opinion of a league is just that, your opinion. I liked ToTa for example because i like diversity in gameplay. Map augmenting leagues are the worst for me (like sentinel) because they dont feel any different than normal mapping. Monsters getting longer to kill or just having different tint (like delirium) is not enough.

i will go with retention being tied not to the core mechanic but with how much new content to discover has been added.

crucible had weapon skill tree that opened a lot of new things

tota has tatoos


my hopes for afliction is something like scourge but with global bonus on the items say:

20% more mana but 15% less life and ES

or

increase and reduction to aoe also apply to damage at a % of its value, take a % of your aoe damage as damage


self found league fan

Click mouse and keep it pressed on afflicted tree to spawn waves of nemesis-like mobs. Loot drops only if you survive all 20 waves over a 20 min battle, in a special forest, accessible after collecting 50 splinters, dropped from map mobs. Various new afflicted uniques. No new power creep/crafting mechanics.


New crafting might actually happen since it did with every expansion.
I see that more credit goes to sanctum and new items with tattoos for keeping online. Really sad that there will be no tattoos, it is a very flexible and convenient thing. I didn't like the totems themselves, broken mechanics for one build.
