Given it's an aged game... would be nice to have a legacy graphics engine as an option similar to how WoW handled it (Or loosely, how D2R did it)

Thing is there is no clear answers on what hardware the game runs "good" on. Two different people can have the same specs and have completely different in game performance. I am probably due for an upgrade within the next year but if I were to base that upgrade off what works for poe I would not have a clue what to get.

Since there are console versions of the game it would be in their interest to have some legacy type graphics mode that always works on consoles.

I just don't get too excited over awesome graphics in games anymore. It usually just means I turn all the settings down so I can actually play it.

I don't know what's going on with the graphics here? For the year 2023 and its fps it performs very poorly. Just look at top engines from well-known manufacturers. The performance of unreal engline for the fps is hardcore!
This is the same epic fail as in Doom 3. The man abused computers for shadow calculation and whatever instead of producing a PLAYABLE game.
And when he came to his senses, there is fast action with Doom's successor with a very fast engine for older PCs and that also looks extremely good.

so it depends on a lot of details???? or maybe other things? I and I'm sure you can name a lot of games with hardly any details and they're fun! many of them are played online with others.
But here I often experience absolutely sick things that immediately cause emo rage. like right now: I'm playing with elder of worlds midifier and wandering path altas skill. My witch actually has usable def for this stuff and I can stand behind the wall while minions do dangerous jobs. and then after 4-5 seconds new mobs spawn behind and I have 0 fps!!! WTF is that???????????????? and then they immediately shoot at me. ????????? of course I'm dead! And as soon as I'm on the ground, of course I have normal fps. sure, of course.
How long has the game been in development?????????????

and they even want to sell content that you have to do with 1 life?
I can't even laugh. that's just sad.

PoE is well known for being a poorly optimized game. My impression is the devs don’t really care and instead focus on new content and PoE 2.

Marriage is far more expensive than my rig, u would be better off to simply copy what I bought.

if engine was written for windows 95 and here you die no matter what you do.... Then why the hell can't you level up to 100 like in other games and there's this ridiculous content for 1 life????????
Unless... I saw a guy with diapers, shaking hands, with 11k shield and max res in hardcore.he farmed normal maps as summoner. and the guy has high-end computer, otherwise videos wouldn't be possible.
Of course tastes are different. but does the majority like it? hardly likely? Because the number of active players online without AFK for trading is extremely low. You can also see that in the forum too.

I doubt these performance issues happen due to the fact that some players have "outdated" PCs.

Plenty of people have been experiencing crazy loading times, missing textures and lags since the end of the previous league. Even with high end rigs.

For instance, I'd never had any lags, or textures issues and always loaded the game and maps in seconds before the latest patch was deployed. Now, I see black squares and other missing textures left and right before they load and sometimes it takes the game 30 seconds to load the towns instead of 2-3 seconds.

So, yeah, its completely understandable that people are upset and GGG should either expend more time and manpower on these engine related things or just leave poe1 alone for the time being.

To be fair, this new problems had been fixed one or two weeks in the new league.
