Almost Krangle Time, What Are You Playing?

Yeah, I went in blind and rerolled the next day because my build was so bad lol.

It was interesting because I missed it the first time, but don't really care if I ever play this event again.

Yeah I actually went in blind. Somewhere around the 10th notable that has zero benefit to you, and no regrets and like 2 refund points, you realize its not going to get better.

(Some say, build around what you find on the tree, which is a good idea in theory but when none of the passive match, at all, its not helpful.)

Mathil suggest in his stream that regrets should drop like candy or maybe you get 1 refund for every talent point, which would make it playable. I kinda agree on those.

I'm still playing, but that's cuz I haven't got to 50 yet, and not sure how I'll be in act 6; I don't have much time this week anyways.

My build is doing fine, and has been getting better; I suppose I lucked out and was simply able to find good stuff locally. I'm doing a 2h axe marauder since that's what I seem to have the most support for locally.

As is typical, act 1 is hard since they buffed the difficulty of it years ago; but getting into 2-3 is easier as they weren't buffed and your build is coming together. Also good uniques, or even just any half-decent unique is so helpful when leveling, and finding enough rnadom stat boosts on items helps cover those needs with bench-crafting. My resistances still aren' tcapped though, that'll surely haunt me soon.
Yeah, I stopped at 50. Was playing a boring LA ranger and didn't check if the community discovered the whole tree. I wanted to try it blind to see how fun that was.

TLDR: It wasn't.

I guess a big part of the fun for me is planning the build then going after a known/planned tree. This event certainly reinforced that point.

Heh, I went for the same build, with Caustic Arrow as a nominally bow-independeent backup: figured one or the other could benefit. I think I found one decent chaos/phys node, a shadow notable not too far from home, and really struggled for dex nodes (and earlier, int nodes) to keep some kind of reasonable gem and weapon level.
Progess was painful, killing Avarius/Innocence for example took ages (until now I never knew that Avarius even had a bullet hell attack!). Damage was nerfed, defence very limited and life was restricted. Now this might have got easier by about level 90, but I doubt it and I was really glad to hit L50 and finish on the cathedrel rooftop without even having to pinprick Kitava to death.

The randomised tree might be OK if you could see it all and plan something using what's there: or if the regrets dropped at the rate of (say) portal scrolls, so rewinding were practical. One or the other should keep some fun element. But the combination of going blind and not being able to change is painful.

Also I didn't bother ascending while going to 50. Quite aside from having to kill Izaro with a spork, I suspected that all the ascendancies would be hidden until chosen, and then the trees would be concealed until picked, and then of course it's utterly random and unsuited to class... so almost certainly worthless.
I just trotted through the lab now and indeed, there's only the structure visible on each, so you can't see what you're "choosing" at all. (They're not even named, although the R of Raider is shown for some reason!).
At the very least ascendancy trees ought to be entirely visible at the point of ascending. Even if they're krangled, we ought to be able to choose what mess we get.
