Do people like Sanctum because of the gameplay itself? Or just the loot?

I enjoy the mechanics a lot <3 Roguelike is my jam!

The rewards are just a cool incentive~ If they ever decide to nerf what we get out of it, I wouldn't mind as much~

If I want experience a real rogue-like gameplay / game that requires me to dodge and do mechanic, I'd play hades or sifu or souls-like titles.
I don't like Sanctum. I didn't like it during Sanctum League. Not my cup of tea, I'm afraid.

Are you perhaps mixing up Sanctum and TOTA?

As for my take on Sanctum, even after making a character that was supposedly good for it and spending way too much currency on relics, I still didn't enjoy it. I haven't run a single one since completing the related challenges.

I'm glad some people enjoy it, but it's just not for me.
Sanctum is extremely rewarding and trivialized by high dps characters that don’t require aim.

It’s fun if you have the build for it, miserable otherwise.

You also have to learn Lycia’s attack patterns to consistently kill her if your dps isn’t at instant nuke levels.
Traps, narrow layouts, low density and a mechanic that heavily rewards some archetypes over others? Nah, don't like Sanctum. Still, I'm totally OK with it going core, and couldn't really care less if it's a little bit over tuned in terms of rewards - for a while. But I think we all know it will receive a nerf.

On topic, though: Rewards will always be a huge "fun factor" in ARPGs, at least for some players. Getting rewarded IS fun. The feeling of accomplishment/success IS fun. So even though the mechanic itself may not be your favorite, the sum of everything can still be, well, fun.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
I liked Sanctum much more during its own league than I do now, which is really the opposite of how I feel about most other league mechanics.
