Please STOP having end-game builds rely on Uniques on almost EVERY slot.

I really wish we could dial back the usage of unique items.

I want to have fun crafting gear and actually finding stuff that can in rare cases be upgrades or be something you can craft in a way that makes it an upgrade.

But when you look at poe.ninja, almost every "top tier" builds are just using unique items on almost every slot ... it's BORING.

Farm farm farm, buy your expensive unique, grats you made it.

It's so much more interesting gameplay when you rely on rare items more.
You upgrade them as you go... you get currency to craft better, or fail crafting and go again etc, it feels much more rewarding IMHO, than just having unique's on every socket.

This post is for discussion, because I know its a question of balance...
Obviously, unique items are in a spot where they imo just too easily can replace a good rare, so that's why most top builds just have so many uniques and so few rare items.

IMHO, it should generally be the other way around ... builds should rely heavily on rare items and then sprinkled with a few interesting and maybe build-defining uniques.

There aren't many cases where a unique is BIS so i am honestly a bit confused here. There are a bunch of staples like forbidden jewels, watchers eye and mageblood which you'll find a lot on POE Ninja since it only shows the top end of the community but in most other slots you find rares on a regular basis. Some builds depend on one specific unique like low life build but even they often use rares in their other slots.

Sure, in the super min-max end-game, rares typically come back into play.
But in the broad stage of like just end-game builds in general and builds not expected to fork out 1000 divines, then yes unique's are goto on almost every slot, as they just beat out rares, unless it's a crazy rare which again goes back to.. yes, min/max uber pinnacle yada 500+ divine builds, sure they go back to relying on rare items.

But anything before that, 95% of builds that are able to clear end-game and show up regularly on poe.ninja, they have unique's for almost everything... That's my point.

I wish they'd balance it out so rares were more competitive at the non-1000div endgame type of gameplay.

That's simply not true.
If you have uniques in almost every slot then your build will suffer.
Getting a decent rare that outshines a unique isn't hard nor expensive.
The only time you want a unique is for the special mod(s) that it offers.

What build are you running and what uniques are you using?
Other than in cases of like. crystallized omniscience or ashes of the stars, I almost never see full or near-full unique builds on poe ninja? For the most part people who have gotten a character to between 97-100 are playing optimized builds where most of the gear is rare items they have either crafted or bought.

What kind of build are you trying to make? Or I guess, what uniques are you seeing most of the time? I'm genuinely confused...

I honestly can't relate to you like at all. I guess there is a bit of that happening in regards to melee where it's really hard to beat Paradoxica or Voidforge with a rare but even there, Boneshatter typically runs rare weapons and Molten/Lightning Strike typically runs rare claws.

Bow builds are pretty much always rare based because all the unique bows are trash.
Casters using wands also have rare wands like 9 out of 10 times. Gloves/boots/amulets/rings/belts aside from HH/MB are heavily rare oriented slots, yes there is ashes but that's almost as expensive as a +2 amulet and usually worse.
Body armor/shields have some fairly popular unique choices like 4thvow and Aegis but honestly, that's pretty much it.
Also what stops you from just not using uniques? That is the good thing about POE, everyone can play like he or she wants.
Very rarely do builds do full uniques. A lot of times if you try that you end up with very poor defenses. The ones that do go full uniques will have some very crazy mechanics going on that tend to be over complicated for a new player. Most times it's gonna be rares.
