Trial of Ancestors going core?
Please no it's so unfair and unbalanced and getting one shoted the whole time is ridiculous, how is this a fun game mechanic?

Tattoos are great but the Mechanic itself is utterly Trash that Rewards you for a cheesy Playstyle. Sure i can adjust but i play Poe cause of the H&S Aspect of the Game. And some of the Units are just stupid OP. Goliath of the Night and Storm Conduit enter the Chat xD

" True, the mechanic could use a lot of polishing, but if they are not bringing the mechanic to STD, I sincerely hope at least the tattoos stay :( "For we are not now that strength, which in old days moved Earth and Heaven. That which we are, we are; one equal strength of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will: to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield." - Ulysses, Tennyson

There is a thing indicating TOTA will go core . There is an icon on the left side , when you use the waypoint to teleport you inside the hall of the dead. Every icon in there is for league mechanics that got core. So...
PS: I said left side . I meant the other left :) Last edited by iuiulitza on Sep 8, 2023, 4:03:29 PM

Think I'm leaning towards hoping this not going core now, and I liked it before :|
Have found the mechanic to be very boring and repetitive, with little player agency during the matches. It's basically the same thing over and over again, with little real variation. Even worse, sometimes and increasingly so, I spend 50%+ of a match's runtime either dead on the ground with a very slow timer (sometimes 20 secs long, without channeling halt) or stunned/frozen for 5+ seconds when something looks in my generation direction. Quite a few times I don't even know what has stunned me. The life bar doesn't move at all, so the 5% threshold is BS as far as I'm concerned. I also typically get into a bad spiral where I lose a tournament, even in the 'final', and only get two units over to the next tournament. Which means I am playing catch up the whole way there, and often end up with two units coming over again. Repeat. Repeat. Sure, I win a lot of tournaments too (but less than before), so it's not like I downright suck at it. But even when I win matches and tournaments I find myself being bored and inactive. Mostly just staring at the screen at my dead body or frozen character, and elsewise running around doing nothing really. Just being bait and throwing curses around. I don't find a gameplay loop like that engaging nor fun. It's too repetitive. Very little player agency. Then you have shits like Kurua that jumps at me from two screens away and oneshot me 1 seconds into a match. This happens quite regularly, and is incredibly frustrating. If this goes core, I seriously hope they take another development round of it, and makes improvements that increase player agency and reduce the absurd amount of oneshots off screen. In this sense, the Turtle Shell is the least of TOTA's problems. |

Trial of the Ancestors is not fun.

I've seen the posts on Reddit and the "you can't keep tattoos in the game because it's power creep" people seem to be the most vocal. GGG will cave to them and probably remove everything except the tattoos with no requirements. The "journey" tattoos and the keystone tattoo might be left in as the new chase tattoos. The Loyalty tattoos might stay in as well.
I don't see the big problem with leaving any of the tattoos in the game. Once silver coins are less available and TotA challenges no longer exist the prices of all tattoos will go up tenfold and at that point you're probably better off just spending your currency on gear instead. +1 projectile tattoos are already up to 15 div because nobody wants to run the mechanic. It's not power creep if you have to play an extra 50 hours to afford that power.... |
