Fix the "prefix/suffix can't be changed" mod to work as written

The BIGGEST confusion with this mod that I have seen since its release way way way way back....

If you use something like a chaos orb or some other orb...we forget that the "prefixes cannot be changed" is a MOD that changes. If we remove or alter THAT mod using a chaos or scour, it also removes the "lock" that it placed on the item. You need to actually stop and think: Is the currency I am using on the item going to affect the "prefixes cannot be changed" mod itself? Yes? Then we are in the danger zone.

As far as the mod doing what it says: the wording is 100% accurate and needs absolutely no changing. What becomes unclear is exactly what is being talked about in this thread: the "empty" prefixes. You just have to KNOW that "empty" mods essentially don't exist....until they do. NOTHING you see on an item has any effect on an "empty" space because it does not exist. This is just something you have to learn and accept, it is not something that the game needs to make any clearer for you because it IS already as clear as it can possibly be. "Prefixes cannot be changed" means exactly what it says: the prefixes on the item that you see cannot be changed.
As another poster said. The biggest issue is the cost. Still stuck trying to move into my next shield upgrade and this mechanic is bleeding me bad. My currency tab should have blood all over it. I have literally been working on this craft since Christmas.

Back on track on the discussion... Suffixes Cannot be Removed is actually a prefix, and Prefixes Cannot be Removed is a suffix. So you need to have open space and some annulments if the mods fill up where the crafting Cannot Removed is going. And, be prepared to start over if things go wrong in the event you use an annulment. Yeah, crafting is painful and occasionally fun.
It's a property of the item so I agree with OP. It should be reworded to Existing Affixes cannot be changed.

Like others have said it should read something like

Existing prefixes cannot be changed.

Having crafting options do what they say they do is very important. especially when using something like exalts or veiled chaos orbs.
Jumping on board with this to remind them that they also need to word Essences and Fossils to specifically say that they ignore these two mods, because they do, and it's a super unpleasant surprise to learn that on an expensive item.

I'm not going to advocate that they change the mechanism to have that interaction work differently, but you NEED TO SAY IT ON THE CURRENCY, not let people wreck their first big shiny item by "trying out crafting" and you just took a dump on their prize.
wording is misleading - if i have 1-2 empty prefixes and they get filled its pretty obvious that prefixes have been changed.

They don't "ignore" those mods....they end up changing those mods because they act as chaos orbs. which is already in their description.

You, the player, need to realize that "Prefix/Suffix cannot be changed" is NOT a fractured mod....it is a mod that can be altered just like any other if you are unlucky or if you use the wrong type of currency.

People arbitrarily like to treat them as fractured, permanent mods. But that is their mistake, not any game description.
