Nerfing Defensive Archnemesis Modifiers

Some number tweaks are fine, I guess, but AN is anti-fun in more ways than just numbers.
1. AN monsters spam (on-death) effects. I think one effect for one pack is fine. Say, one chaos bomb per pack is fine. Make it more prominent, even. But 3 or 4 of them per pack adds nothing interesting to the fight. 2. AN doesn't have enough interactive effects. Ice Barrier is Okay. Mana Ring is Okayish, I guess. But most of them are boring. You can do much better. There can be mechanics that players can interact with, that decide how the pack behaves (think Shrines, but with more player action, or the Eater of Worlds balls, but tuned down by a lot). Apart from AN 1. We are still waiting on loot numbers. Give us numbers. At least comparatively to previous leagues. A x% buff means nothing if we don't know the base value. 2. Build balance. How do you test builds? Do you consider regular AG deaths balanced and acceptable? We would love to be shown your process of balancing builds. 3. Crafting. Harvest is but one aspect of it. What's most important is how you envision gearing progression to be, and what mechanics are in place to facilitate your vision. 4. Why do you insist on us picking up rares from the ground? What's the odds of finding useful upgrades once we are in maps? We used to have Loot 2.0 where Talismans can be useful, but you removed it. Mechanics like Harvest and Recombinators allow us to make use of rares, but you gutted the former and removed the latter. How do you think rares off the ground should be used? 5. Revert the widescreen change. Seriously, if you want to enforce fair competition, make a competition mode where only, say, 16:9 is allowed. Otherwise, this is mostly a single player experience. Let people enjoy the game as they used to be able to. |

Thanks for the nerf to defenses, it is much appreciated. Why is the AN offensive modifiers left untouched. I would rather spend 5 mins trying to kill the pack of rares and magics than dying in 0.5 seconds to a one shot when I cannot even figure out what killed me. Was it a physcial hit, was it an elemental hit, was it a chaos hit, WTF killed me from offscreen???
Maxed out all elemental resists, maxed out chaos resists, maxed out physical reduction. yet, one shot killed time after time. The "hasted" "Berserker" "Heralding Minions" "random strider" is harder than any content I have ever faced When its easier for me to go kill uber atziri or uber pinnacle bosses, heck even Maven, than it is to fight a rare mob, means that there is serious balance issues. How am I able to facetank a shaper beam and clear 100% Delirious Maps in 3.17 but die in 0.5seconds to a rare mob in 3.18 and 3.19? Does this sound like balanced mechanics? If you, GGG, is so obsessed with HARD MODE. Cool, there will be a community that loves it and I know there is a large part of the GGG community that is loving the new HARD MODE. Let the player pick hard mode when creating a character. Allow me to play normal mode. Bring back player agency. No need to revert all the changes you made. keep it all exactly as it is. Create a new mode "Normal Mode" and make sure this mode is like POE pre 3.17. I quit 3.18 a week in because of AN modifiers making most builds entirely useless, the same builds that could clear all endgame content. I can finish The Feared with a build, the same build that is unable to deal with some random AN rare. Came back for 3.19 hoping that AN would be tuned down, three days later I quit the league again. I will come back once you are able to give players agency again. Hard Mode for Hard Players, Normal Mode for POE veterans/casuals and every one in between. Then you can enforce your Vision on players that like it and leave the rest of us to have fun. I have 4.5k hours played in POE. All a wasted investment of my time to learn the mechanics of POE and currency making strategies, which is now..... useless. |

The biggest problem with that is that people start copy-pasting false statements and even start to believe in them. It is totally fine to be unsatisfied with the current game, because the balance is off and the communication is terrible. But---talking about insulting---do not put statements into Chris' mouth which he never said. |

I'm getting rather fed up with all these buff's nerf's etc etc..
Why touch any of this in the first place.? Either way what you have done in the first place are you not surprised you got this much backlash.? Buffs are just not buffs simple, Should of had reverted back to the old loot pool of drops. Harvest was just NERFED way to much I don't delve into it much but still use it time to time. Nothing is rewarding for our time spent playing anymore. Just one more thing just get RID! of arcnem. |
