3.18 Boss Killer Absolution Necromancer Build Guide with Video Guide Updated with Skelly Mages

This is most likely the build I will be league starting as it has the benefits of a summoner while being an active playstyle. Wanted to get this live so as soon as PoB updates I can get the video out and the updated PoB. I played this last league, before the giant buffs essentially gave us 23 gems for both. The PoB will have a very robust Notes section which will answer most questions. Have cluster jewel and non cluster setups and different investment levels. Has 3 Layouts for gear in PoB with an all blue set up to very high investment gearing. Absolution got a serious buff this league per patch notes:

Pros + Very in-depth PoB with leveling and a robust notes section. + Safe and malleable on defenses, Can run Hybrid, or CI or LL with Divine Shield. + Boss Killing specialist with great mobility and recovery. The biggest tool of survivability is the ability to move and this build lets you be mobile. + Simple early crafting with adding + lightning damage to spells, this has massive buffs. Cons - Hardcore viability. I am a Softcore player and this build is made in mind for new players. I have not tested this build in HC. Should be doable may want more life and armour to compensate. - Mana sustain can be an issue until you get Essence Glutton. - Build can be a little socket starved to try to get everything you want in as it uses so many minions. For Specter's 1 Host Chieftain(Old Fields), 1 Carnage Chieftain(Old Fields), 1 Arena Master Drox's Portals ?? depends on rarity Level 31 Run Library Quest Inspiration + Meat Shield + Precision Level 38 Should be able to get all the gems needed as soon as you have the sockets. Boots: Normal Boots + Quicksilver + Orb of Augmentation = Movement Speed 10% also will upgrade Movement speed by 5% if it has the modifier. Weapon Upgrades: Magic Wand/Scepter/Rune Dagger + Topaz Ring + Orb of Alteration gives added x Lightning damage to Spells. Rarity of ring effects Tier of mod. +1 Base, Need X "tagged" gems with at least 40 Quality. Makes a +1 All X Skills Weapon (doesn't work with Minion does work with Lightning) Ring: Magic/Rare Ring or Amulet with +x to Chaos Resistance + Orb of Augmentation + Amethyst Flask Reforges with just the chaos resistance roll (i level matters) Unique Item: 60 Unique rings gets you a Loreweave which is a pretty decent chest if you do not want to craft one. List of all recipes: https://poedb.tw/us/Vendor_recipe_system^7 Harvest Crafts to Look for: Caster= good for Weapons and Hunter Chest (+ level of spell skill gems, minion mods, Additional Curse, Spell Crit on chest.) Essence of Torment: added Lightning Damage to Spells on weapon which got massively buffed. Essence of Woe adds % Spell Damage to Weapons. Essence of Fear adds Wands, Claws, Daggers, One Hand Swords, Thrusting One Hand Swords, One Hand Axes, One Hand Maces, Scepters: Minions deal % increased Damage Essence of Horror for Helmets: Socketed Gems deal 30% more Elemental Damage. This is how to get the best version of helm but can be expensive as you might need to spam to get good rolls. Really want +3 minion and 1 damage modifier using Elder or Shaper or a combined helm. Minion Wiki Page: https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Minion Minion's are complex interaction wise, so really good idea to check the resources listed in the wiki if you are having issues. I would wait till maps for Animate Guardian but you want to level it up so it doesn't die when you add it in the lineup. Use cheap unique at first like Leercast, Dying Breath, Southbound, Victario's Flight and Cloak of Tawm'r Isley Before using Kingmaker (Vendor: Soul Taker, Heartbreaker and an Orb of Fusing "Corrupted items can not be used".) and more Expensive Items like influenced chests on Animate Guardian you want to get the Divergent Version for the added life (40%) and get it level 19 + Damage: Check your weapon has at least 2 of the following, Minion Damage, Minion Cast Speed, +1 Added Minion Spell Skill Gems, +1 to all Spell Skill Gems, Added Lightning Damage to Spells, % Increased Spell Damage. Survivability: You can always run Determination or Grace. Make sure resistances are capped, look at Tank chest options like the Brass Dome. Check the High Investment category in the gear section, start trying to get appropriate base Items and work towards crafting the gear, I suggest Harvest crafting as it doesn't deplete your currency pool. http://www.craftofexile.com is a great resource for crafting any item, I really like the Emulator section as you can import your item or start from scratch to test with. Aegis Aurora will likely be less expensive than a % life gain on block or a % ES gain on block shield early in the league, if it is expensive get one of the other on block effects before taking Glancing Blows. Wand/Dagger Rolls: Look for all Minion/spell gem level, Lightning Damage to Spells, Minion modifiers Trigger Socketed Gems, %Lightning/Spell Damage> Cast Speed^ For rings, try to get a Conductivity ring, once achieved add frost bomb to trigger wand Hunter Chest with Life and Increased effect of Offerings is great for survivability. Tailwind/Ellusive boots are nice however not at all needed. Unique Items to look for: The Queen's Hunger, (syndicate Catarina drop) Corpsewalker Boots, Aegis Aurora, and Darkness Enthroned. While Leveling: Sidhebreath, The Jinxed Juju, Bloodbond, Cloak of Tawm'r Isley, Rotting Legion, Bones of Ullr, Aukuna's Will, Triad Grip, Command of the Pit, Wraithlord, Skullhead, Midnight Bargain, Clayshaper, and Matua Tupuna. Why people write that absolution got serious buff when absolution minions dont use the same absolutions as you. So their dmg wasnt buffed at all and most of dmg comes from them.

Cause their "absolution" still carries over levels from the gems and properties from the gem, the difference is the minion version does significantly more physical damage than the normal gem level.
This is the data from last league, while we don't have the data mined numbers as they haven't been released for the minions even if their damage didn't increase but they get the effectiveness change it's a huge increase as 80% increased additive damage to the build. Absolution Minion (the non cd ability) Critical Strike Chance: 5% Cast Time: 0.75 Second Absolution Damages enemies in an area, applying a debuff for a short duration. If a non-unique enemy dies while affected by the debuff, the enemy's corpse will be consumed to summon a Sentinel of Absolution for a longer secondary duration, or to refresh the duration and life of an existing one instead if you have the maximum number of them. Deals 2689 to 4034 Physical Damage spell maximum action distance +% [-50] Absolution Minion Empowered (the AoE) Critical Strike Chance: 5% Cast Time: 0.75 Second Cooldown Time: 6 Second Absolution Damages enemies in an area, applying a debuff for a short duration. If a non-unique enemy dies while affected by the debuff, the enemy's corpse will be consumed to summon a Sentinel of Absolution for a longer secondary duration, or to refresh the duration and life of an existing one instead if you have the maximum number of them. Ive got a question.
In your Absolution guide you are recommending Spell Damage/Lightning Damage/Added Damage to Spells to roll on your Wand. Is this just a QoL thing, so starting a Map isnt as painful by having more damage yourself for the first few kills or do the minions inherit those increases, which normal minions usually dont? |
