As I've done this twice, I am of course not an expert.

I picked intensify because I was using it for boss damage (everything else dies immediately, even rares burn to death from one hit normally, so increased AOE at 0 intensity is nice), but that's less needed if we use something else for boss DPS.

If I were to use flame surge on a totem, I think I'd still want to use WOC to DPS bosses. It does seem a nice simple way to gain dps for e.g. Izaro.

Given that I'm annoyed by desecrate-clicking anyway, adding too much more will probably cause me to break something before the campaign is out. Perhaps myself. I'm already on smoke mine alongside flame dash.

Added fire: I'm hoping I can just ask a guildmate for one, though it's not a huge dps loss to use added cold/light til we clear the strand in A6 I think.

Edit: with your auras, are you able to tank an Izaro shot? I kind of suck at that fight, and died on his final stage in merciless lab. It'd be nice to be able to mess up and not lose 5-10 minutes.


Yeah for Izaro I set everything up, then pop my granite when he spawns. Am able to take a hit safely when sitting at about 8k armour.

The nice thing about ignite is that you only have to hit him once every few seconds for DPS. Brand+WoC -> RUUUUN -> WOC! etc... xD

I guess for intensify, I don't stand still to gain any benefit from it. I stutterstep a lot and wouldn't ever have intensity stacks...

but it also doesn't add any ignite dps, so I still wouldn't want it? Cruelty gives more damage overall.

Actually, for anything that takes more than one initial hit from anything, Immolate would be absolutely bonkers. WoC have 240% added effectiveness NOW and will have 330% in 3.18. Right now it's good for 64% more hit damage and 37% more ignite damage. kekw at level 15 (65). That might actually be best.
Intensify to immolate makes a lot of sense, best of both worlds almost - though I think I'll miss the increased AOE.

Then spell totem, flame surge, immolate, concentrated effect.

And replace armabrand setup with hextouch armabrand.

Cool, quite a lot of optimisation ideas from your last few posts. Should all be a decent DPS improvement on my last run, without losing QOL. Socket pressure being the biggest problem, but 3 links on Arma brand and on spell totem should both be OK, and flammability is now moved from standlone to a link.

I think I'll try jade flask + cloud from smoke mine to squeeze past Izaro when I facetank something stupid from him, doing all these gem switches mid-run gets complicated, may as well leave my auras alone for now.

4L: BBRR
WoC - Cruelty - Added Fire - Immolate
4L: BBBB
Arma Brand - Hextouch - Flammability - Ignite Prolif
3L: BBR or BRG
Flame Surge - Spell Totem - Immolate/Culling Strike
2-3L BBB/BBG
Flame Dash - Arcane Surge - Second Wind/Faster Casting
Auras: R R R R B
Determination - Herald of Purity - Defiance Banner - Clarity - Vitality
I had 200 mana unreserved at the end of my run. I would have loved to use Vitality and in hindsight, I can take the reservation mastery for it to squeeze it in. May also be worth grabbing a mana mastery for clarity as well.

If I find a decent shield then I would also try to get a RG for Shield Charge - Faster Attacks
As for cremation, I might drop it around mid act 4 when I get my level 38 gems. Or at the end of act 4.

Hahaha yeah. In my last run I had a determination just drop for me in act 3 which is why I went for it so early. It definitely made a huge difference for survivability.

instead of Determination+Defiance Banner you could just run Malevolence and maybe squeeze in herald of ash.
I'm throwing together a leveling PoB for everyone using your guys' experiences.

Also looking at this I think once we get into around maps picking up a Vaal Flameblast to replace WoC as the single target skill is the play. With the buff it's getting the ignites from a single Vaal Flameblast will should 1-shot basically every white map boss in a 4L if you hit on the last stage (15). This should let us breeze through maps using Arma Brand for clear and Vaal Flameblast for single target.

Pick up a Searing Touch when you get to maps, should be smooth sailing. Martyr of Innocence is even better but will also probably be like 80-100c the first couple days so I doubt it'll be worth the investment unless one drops for you.

I would love to look but when I try to import it it says it's an unrecognizable tree?

Vaal Flameblast is a neat idea. My main concern is actually channeling regular flameblast, but as a one-shot mechanic for map bosses that's a plan I can probably get behind.

Also, Wave of Conviction applies exposure which is huge for damage from the ascendancy and the mana regen as well.

Ah I opted into the PoB beta builds. I need to undo that...I'll update the link shortly.

The plan for bosses would be to still use a single WoC hit to apply exposure/curse/combustion and then drop the big Vaal FB pizza blast for the big ignite slap.

Mapping would be an Arma Brand 4L, probably pure damage at this point as you want the curse on WoC.

Edit: shiiiit I bricked all my builds for regular PoB now, that's a big RIP. I'll get that leveling PoB updated then spend a bunch of time fixing my other builds lol.
