there is some enemies that can shotgun in scourge maps and the worst part is their attack has no mitigation tags so it passes through all layers of defense this is likely whats killing your minions

Sounds like a good Spectre?
Went Skeleton Warrior in Act 5, the build struggles in nightmare, there are just too many monsters for my handful of skeletons to handle and the Carrion golem dies within a few seconds of entering a nightmare. The boss killing on the other hand is amazing, right now I can't even do t1 nightmares so I'm going to shelve this character for now.

I think its your build dude, I'm doing t4 nightmares and getting between 150 and 200 stacks per map. It does get ripped then but the skeletons still clear just fine. You need melee splash with some aoe nodes.
So I stopped playing like a brainlet and have died a lot less. What is currently the best transition choice for the minion army build?

Too big cd on that guy skill what throws 3 bloody daggers.



Demon Herder probably best choice from new spectres. Unless someone discover some buggy thingy. Harpy only seems good, i think old spectres are better then harpy.

I'm following Kay's guide for Skeleton Warriors. I didn't make any changes to the tree, I use every recommended gems and socket them into the same gear slot. I'm using a 5L chest. The problem is the Carrion Golem dies in almost every nightmare encounter. There are so many mobs in the nightmare that the skellys cannot gang up on any one and they don't have a lot of life so they get overwhelm too.

Maybe I'm playing it wrong, I would love to see a video of someone playing the Skeleton Warriors in a nightmare.

Edit: I just looked at your character, I'll give your gem setup a try.

Jeez, not even block? was hoping to fix things by getting the block stuff
I'm in Act 9, buttery smooth experience so far [I am grossly overleveled though - it's my first ever run in PoE], even better with vaal summon skeleton:
1. run around throwing skellies on packs
2. when meter is full use vaal skellies
3. in a second or two click scourge button
4. voila, you have 40 skellies, everything dies
