The character sheet shows the same stat set for all skills, as such it can't handle skills that are technically spells (due to not being attacks) but deal non-spell damage.
The actual skill popup will show the correct damage, because that's different and customised to each skill, so knows which stats to look at.
this is way too confusing. When I put on spell damage wands modifiers it clearly affected bear trap skill popup. same as spell crit chance/spell dmg multiplier on the character sheet.
The character sheet is not the skill popup. The skill popup is correct, and does not show increase from spell damage. The character panel does, and is wrong.
If I give my character 99999% more spell damage, that applies to flamme totem and fireball, but the skill popup for Beartrap does not change. If you're seeing it change only because of spell damage bonuses, then that's a bug, as they do not apply, and I need to find out how to replicate it, so that I can fix it.

in the popup, the dps at the top increases, but not the actual physical damage in the details of the skill popup, when equipping spell damage.

Odd, it shouldn't be doing that. I'll investigate. thanks for the report.

I'm trying to get an angry bear head coming out of the ground and biting made as alternate microtransaction art for it, but I don't think anyone's convinced yet :P

A few questions about bear trap (or traps in general):
-they're not affected by +% spell damage, but what about +% elemental damage (if for example I supported it with added fire, would +% elemental passives increase that fire damage?)
-does the bear trap lock time stack with multiple bear traps? if a mob triggered 3 bear traps at once would the duration be approximately 3 times as long?
-do traps work with mana/life leech gems? do you take damage from reflect mobs?

I believe only +physical dmg will boost it, like Iron Rings. Definitely not elemental.
From my experience, it does not stack, just refreshes the lock time.
Mana/life should work according to dev post here, I wanna test how well once I get the gems myself.
You do not take reflect dmg.

Flat damage from gear only applies to Attacks. Iron Ring damage will not apply.
