hello. i bought a trigger a socketed spell wand. in pob there's only woc in weapon sockets. do i have to do same or can i link support gems? thanks

PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.

Would you mind sharing the steps to craft one? Not sure where even to start xD

I suggest using an emulator on craft of exile before committing the actual craft.
The key thing is there are only three mods with fire tag prefix on a int-base shield, %fire dmg, +1 fire gem and %fire as extra chaos.

1. Get a shield base with 15% mana reservation
2. fill up all suffix using harvest which can be removed later
2.5 wipe all prefix
3. bench craft any-but-not-fire "gain as extra chaos damage" prefix (this can block 1 fire-tag prefix)
4. aug fire for %fire dmg (you need to finish %fire dmg first cuz both +1 fire gem and %fire dmg have the same tag, rerolling %fire dmg on top of a +1 fire gem mod is not optimal)
4.5 remove add fire (til good %fire dmg)
5. aug caster for +1 gem
6. remove add caster tll +1 fire gem
7. unbench prefix, aug life
7.5 remove add life (til good life)
8. remove unwanted suffix

Finally you'd get a shield with %fire dmg, +1 fire gem, life, 15% mana reserve with 2 empty suffix. The expensive part would be getting a high roll of fire damage and life.

If you're using glancing blows and need %life when block, below is the actual step of crafting mine. Note that these steps may not be optimal


Bought this base shield, mainly for 15% reserve and life regen, so I could save 2ex on aug life later on getting %life when block (there's only two suffix with life tag)

0. make sure suffix is full (using harvest or pre-rolled like above, otherwise using harvest reforge may brick the item)
1. Wipe prefix using reforge keep suffix, then remove prefix using harvest (e.g. remove defence)
2. bench any-but-not-fire "gain as extra chaos damage" prefix
3. aug fire for %fire damage
4. remove add fire (til good fire damage)
5. aug caster for any +gem level (fill all prefix)
6. remove cold res (free 1 suffix slot for aug % life on block)
7. make sure prefix is full
8. aug life for %life on block
9. harvest remove life regen (if you removed %life on block then aug life again to get in back)
10. aug caster (fill all suffix, they can be removed by remove crit or speed later on)
11. remove bench prefix
12. aug life
13. if aug shit life roll, remove +gem level prefix (using remove phy/cold/lightning)
14. bench suffix cannot change (if aug shit life)
15. remove add life (til good life)
16. unbench suffix cannot change
17. remove caster suffix (remove crit or speed)
18. bench any suffix (fill all suffix)
19. aug caster for +1 gem prefix
20. remove add caster til +1 fire gem
21. Now you have a flexible suffix slot for augment anything (chaos/defence etc.) or bench craft

Before I grab a trigger wand I wanted to double check something.

I currently run an archdemon helm to apply exposure. Once I get the trigger wand with wave of conviction in it I can then drop the helmet for a different one? I want to switch to something with reduced mana reserved so I can start to run malevolence and ash.

The only time I want both wave of conviction in the trigger wand and helm is if you have whispers of doom annointed?

Exposure is not a curse, it's a debuff. Which means that whispers of doom won't help you with that (except your are thinking about flammability).
And Exposure is a single status so you cannot stack exposures. Which means that you won't apply Exposure for WoW then for your Helmet, anyway.

hey guys complete poe noob here and struggling completely on this build right now so need some pointers..

survivability seems to be an issue as well as damage. leveling was a lot of fun and a breeze but when i got to yellow maps everything started one shotting me and taking really no damage at all.

this is my first forum post so idk how to link properly but the character "KimSuyun" is the character in question.

I surely never felt closer to the community than in this league, and it is the only reason why i did not quit yet even after getting pretty much done. (well i should buy the achievements soon, ritual hideout looks kinda cool)

I was looking at some trends around here


One is to get hh
The other some bad roll tailwind shoes

so i think i can save you some money
>If you have hh, there is simply no need for tailwind shoes, i very rarely see any difference compared to my old 35% speed shoes, especially do not do such switch if you can not hit t1 speed. to get like 15% speed 10life shoes with tail is bad idea that just makes no sense in this build.

Tailwind shoes work only where hh works, it does not provide benefit with no monsters around (maybe it could with writhing jar in your inventory)

If you have gg tailwind shoes and no hh, the speed in combat from them really is enough to not feel strong need for hh. But they do not help on:5 way legion (and that is the only place where i can think of hh being really "must have" tier, remind me if i forgot some)

My have both ellusive and tailwind, i would need to see recording of my play to actually see any difference in my speed ever.

When it comes to the feel, hh itself already makes you swim in movement buffs.

To go from 50km/h to 100km/h is noticable(headhunter) but to get fancy shoes make it feel like 100km/h to 105km/h (tailwind+ellusive)


tl;dr headhunter good, tailwind bad. Cake smash, elusive kinda good tbh does not take resistance slot.




Ofcourse the true reason behind this post is to brag with that t2 life roll :^)


BTW: Some people might think i've changed my previous stance on hh.
But the actual thing is that i carry T15 fractured maps IN GROUP which added just extreme EHP to monsters, and there was no other way to compensate for it other than getting rare buffs from monsters. But to be honest i grew little fond of it, because it is just fun to see your character to take whole screen because you grow by 4000% :^)

So quickly looking at your profile you don't have merc lab done. Do that asap and get Bastion of Elements. It will add a good amount of survivability. Drop precision aura for Purity of Elements. Early on this will allow you to focus on life on your gear and not as heavily on resistances. Once you get a primordial chain running all the golems give you plenty of accuracy. Make sure you are running your enlighten gem with your 2 auras (ash + purity)

If you are short on currency start doing the chaos vendor recipe for chaos. That is what I did when I was short to get some of the early gear.

Try and get the following, in no particular order.

Primordial Chain. This along with merc lab will be big defense upgrades. Make sure you run 1 of each golem(2 stone and 2 chaos)
Flammability on hit ring (with life)
A -x mana cost ring (with life)
Primordial Eminence x2
A +2 to duration gem tablua
15% mana reserve shield + Enlightened Gem
Archdemon Helm with exposure on hit and life

That is a place to start. From there you will end up transitioning to higher cost purchases to switch out purity for malevolence but before that you will need more reduced mana reserved and more expensive gear.
