Endless Delve Starter Gear Preview
Thoughts on the Descent items:
* Rust of Winter: It's pretty chill. Not great, but not bad. Forgettable past level 5-10. Rating: C * Ashes of the Sun: Hoo boy. That's an endgame unique, if you can make it work. Only a 25% increased burning, but it works well for spells and fire elemental hit. 500% increased duration is crazy. Rating: S * Blood of Summer: Reasonable for what it does, but easily outclassed from lack of damage. Works as an offhand for a non-sword skill. Rating: C * Fragment of Eternity: Super-powerful. The damage is piddling, but used as a vector for skills with added damage, especially elemental hit, the 12% crit chance, free power charges, and crit multi make this an endgame unique. Rating: S * Scar of Fate: Level 20 Hatred makes it a great offhand for many builds. Sacrifice defense to have a powerful aura, as well as 50% reduced mana for a travel skill. Rating: A * Splinter of the Moon: Very generic. Gives all the things casters want, but nothing interesting or unique. Two of these for the 4mana would be good, to offset the lack of Alira bonus. Rating: B * Remnant of Empires: Top tier for Glancing Blows shenanigans. Free endurance charges on block is silly, especially since you'll have 56%/60% block with GB. Worth grabbing on any build that doesn't need an offhand. Rating: S(Glancing), A(rest) * Thunder of the Dawn: Interesting Thunder Coil defensive, but hampered by the fact that the damage will be quickly outclassed. It's not a good elemental hit weapon, and lacks spell/thunder damage. Rating: D * Vestige of Divinity: Awful all around. Staff block can't compete with shield block due to the lack of support on the passive tree. It doesn't offer anything else, and is a physical staff to boot. Rating: F * Relic of the Cycle: Like the wand, pretty generic. Projectiles return can be good, and the damage lasts longer than most other weapons with that 100% increased. Still gets overwhelmed late. Rating: B * Slivers of Providence: Powerful for elemental bow shenanigans. Mostly useless for chaos builds, and only marginal for physical ones. Rating: A(elemental), C(rest) Note: The uniques being strong isn't bad, since it's voided, and there's a lot of scavenging to be done in SSF. The weak ones are still bad though. Things that aren't present: * Energy Shield Shield * Attacking Wand * Elemental Scepter * Casting Staff There's definitely room for some Descent Armor, perhaps as a reward from an early(level 5-10) delve. Instead of being generically useful, these could be Tradeoff uniques. Suggestions: * Boots: Something that gives knockback resist, stun resist, something other than movement to make a player ponder trading speed for survival. * Belts: Interesting flask interactions. * Gloves: Slower speed for stronger damage. High survival for lower damage. Increased rarity/quantity for decreased defense. * Body: Increased attributes of the type matching the armor(STR for armour, DEX for evasion, and so on). Decreased attributes of the type that it Isn't. * Helm: Light radius? Light radius! Jokes aside, an interesting possibility here is a helm that automatically triggers a debuff on nearby enemies, slightly lowering evasion. More importantly, the debuff would have a very bright, shiny glow above their heads, helping the player see creatures that might be hidden in the darkness. I suppose it's time for another entry of Warchef's Guide to Wraeclast.
------ When the marauder returned to the Mine Encampment, Niko was found vibrating happily and emitting small chirping noises, like a little canary. "Sin has been sharing his Trarthan Powder with you, hasn't he? I told him to stop that." "What? No, lookit lookit! I got a one week free pass at the gas station. With this, we could stay in the mines forever! Let's go on an ENDLESS DELVE!" He said this with all the reverence of a drunken road trip, and perhaps it was to be so. The Marauder did like his flasks when delving. "We'll go so deep, even past the 6-link recipes! We'll collect those 3-part rings that rich build guides show but no one ever actually finds! I'm giving free pants to the exile who goes the farthest." The Marauder nodded his approval. "The Templar will like that. Though, what about those sulphite potatoes you were addicted to? If we never leave the mines, we can't go to Wraeclast to mine potatoes for you and the Crawler." The silence was mildly awkward, especially so when Niko started to wilt, shedding his azurite-dyed hair for the winter. "Niko? My cousin? What is up?" Yet there was no reply. Hours later, the Marauder returned, full of recipes and loot. "Hey Niko, I found those 3-part onion rings you talked about. Do... do you want to watch me assemble them?" Niko nodded vaguely, sipping the Azurite fruit juice and sobbing sadly. "But... my mashed potatoes..." Last edited by SuperTaster#6582 on Nov 30, 2020, 11:41:20 AM

" You and nearby allies gain (16-25)% of Physical Damage as Extra Cold Damage You and nearby allies deal (14-18)% more Cold Damage +(0-19) to radius No flat damage there, it's quite weak. |

Dual wielding the ignite clubs make fireball ignite STRONG right from level 1. Crazy.
Nothing for summoners. I suppose they think summoners are too strong already, but still, I see the continued leveling gear prejudice against summoners. Example: You can get +1 all chaos/fire/cold/lightning/physical spell gems on a wand at level 2. But +1 all minion skill gems requires level 60. It is time for ALL MINION PLAYERS TO RISE UP IN REVOLUTION. Throw off the shackles that GGG has placed on us. Stand in solidarity with your skeleton and zombie brothers to demand leveling gear parity! Rise up! (or should that be Raise up?) | |
I find that giving 3s to 2h is somewhat limiting - considering you lose 3 offhand sockets.
Could have made it 4, even if 4th is not linked. |

WOW, this will be my first event to compete in and I'm excited. Thanks for the starter gear Whoohoo!!!
