Introduction: Basically slap these two replica uniques on and then stack as much strength as possible. Replica Alberon's Warpath grants 1-80 Chaos Damage to attacks per 50 strength and Replica Iron Commander boosts your ballista count.

Bandits: Kill all
Ascendancy: Chieftain--->Pathfinder
Increased Strength and totem leech is nice. Pathfinder because I like having flasks up all the time. If you want, you can go slayer instead of Pathfinder instead for the cull.

Anomalous Shrapnel Ballista may be expensive

GGG will nerf the single target fork interaction. Fork can now be used as a clear skill.

Mandatory Uniques


fill out the rest of your gear with life, resist, and strength. You can try to get Chaos Damage Over Time Multipliers on your quiver.

These are basically the core items at the minimum. You can get other uniques to better your builds like a Cyclopean's Coil or Iron Fortress

My Current Gear


other luxury items include a Split Personality with Strength and Life. Stick it near point-blank.

Jewels



Go for a Legion Lethal Pride Jewel with Akoya's for Chainbreaker. Since you are using totems, it's just free Rage Generation. Keep in mind Void Sphere hits so it's primarily just for bosses. It also allows you to use Berserk.


Flask


If you can't get a dying sun, you can use an onslaught flask instead.

Other Notes-
Chaos Resist might be hard to get. Currently living at -40 or so.
Clear is uncomfortable without Anomalous Shrapnel Ballista for the chains.
There are other ways to optimize like through Cluster Jewels.
Iron Grip/Iron Will doesn't work with poison AFAIK. Increases to attacks won't increase poison damage but may still be substantial enough dps increases.

I'm running this on a hierophant myself, but I can see Scion doing really well with it too. Poe Ninja shows highest DPS'ing shrapnel ballista is with a scion too (not my profile).

Hierophant might just be a bit more comfortable though. Not using multiple totem support so summoning around 14 totems takes a while. Hope your builds working out for you so far. :)

Thanks for this build guide, this is exactly what I was looking for because I've never played with ballista skills :)

If we were to get some physical to chaos conversion, could we benefit from the "Adds 1 to 3 Physical damage to attacks per 25 strength" from Replica iron commander? Because obviously we cannot deal any non-chaos dmg because of our boots

Is it viable without the anomalous gem?

The ancestors rate this build 25 pogs/10 pogs.

You can, but I don't think it's worth the effort. The 1-80 Chaos Damage should be basically the main bulk of damage. Since you aren't really phys scaling, it wouldn't give that much damage.

Was wondering about that quiver, and it's upgraded version. Good to know it works, excellent choice for a quiver in general, especially if you get lucky and corrupt it with a bow attacks fire an extra arrow or chain implicit.
