3.11 | Carry Me Golems | Carrion/Stone Golem Elementalist | Very Tanky and High DPS summoner

Need some advice, I followed the guide and also my friend gave me a POB he is following.

My current setup:

https://pastebin.com/JBp1qb2N

Yesterday I bought the Glorious Vanity Timeless Jewell, my life looks more steady now, but my life pool is only 4600. In heist you sometimes get that burst damage that kills me.

Could some more experienced player take a look at my profile and look if I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance!

You're using Primordial chain with carrion golems.

Either move to stone golems and keep the amulet, or drop the amulet and pick up zombies, spectres, and an animated guardian.

The first option is cheaper.

The second option is better damage.

Yeah Brass Dome for sure since its your biggest purchase, might as well get it out of the way, then a +2 or +3 helm so you can start using spectres and zombies if your sticking with Carrions (would have to get a different amulet obviously). If your still dying, consider saving for a Kingmaker for your Animate Guardian for the fortify buff, but wait till you have a +2 or +3 with minion life helm to stick the gem in. You don't want that guardian to die with a kingmaker, its very demoralizing lol, trust me. If you plan going with Stone Golems, go straight for the renewal/ rotten claw jewels after the Brass Dome.

Craiceann's Carapace is also a viable alternative and cheaper, but you have to find room for Aspect of the Crab.

This was great advice. The mitigation is so strong now, you don't care a bit about losing around 400 life. I get the helmet as well, have yet to see a golem die since. Also got the first Renewal.

Once i get my up to 96 i'll most likely drop some Life nodes and optimize clusters for Renewal II & III. We'll see about Sirus then. Should work out fine.

I have a question concerning Carrion vs. Stone. The way I understood OP is that the build is intended to enable you to just switch between them, if you have the proper white socket in the armour (actually on top of that you also need a white socket in helmet, because you need to switch Lightning [blue] and Stone [red] depending on your DPS golem).

This makes a lot of sense to me. I could see myself using carrions for genereal mapping and normal bosses. Even now they do perfectly fine and the clear is apparently better. It is still possible to swap in Stone if it turns out you need it, say for Sirus.

What puzzles me is why the setup without Primordial Chain is supposedly so much better.

You either lose 3 DPS golems (which should be ~ 77% less damage) and gain 70% more Damage from the extra Golems). So on first look the difference isn't that big. Is the tipping point the extra Minions with the buffs from the Carrion Golem?
What about the new golem gem types etc? Anyone do anything with them?

The extra minions help, sure. However, one of the the big DPS differences is that we normally replace the primordial chain with a rare with +2 gems, which boosts your golem gems by another two levels.

One the minion side... spectres can boost damage and defense by a decent amount. Animated Guardian boosts a lot, but it's expensive to gear and risky to run if you don't have a +3 minion gems helm, level 21 gem, etc, etc. Zombies are just to boost your carrion golems through the non-golem minion line.

It makes a bigger difference than it seems.. When I am running, I notice a significant slow down just losing 1 zombie. But if you think about it... 1 zombie = 5% damage per carrion golem, times 4 golems.. 20% per zombie times 6 zombies is a big deal. And that's not even with the spectre and AG buffs. :)

I have some spare currency again and there is no other build that's currently intriguing me, so I am considering pushing this one further.

First off, would you just drop 3 carrions with the Amulet or 2 support golems and 1 carrion? I am guessing it can't be the latter, because the build relies on the phys mitigation and reg.

So for the transition I need a +3 helmet and the +1/+1 amulet - and eventually a kingmaker? Anything else?

Since it was mentioned the Animated Guardian must not die under any circumstances: How tanky is it? Is he really safe with helmet and amulet?

In a nutshell: Since those +3 helmet's price is skyrocketing, ist the transition worth it?

Drop 3 carrions. You'll more than make up for the damage.

Ideally, you want a +3 minion gems helmet that also has socketed gems are supported by minion life. If that's too expensive, try for just the +3 minion gems. The +3 will get your chaos golem up to max damage mitigation. Without minion life, I found I'd lose a fair bit more of my minions, including occasionally my animated guardian. Until you have an immortal AG, I'd run all the usual gear plus a dying breath instead of the kingmaker. That way if he rips, it's not terribly expensive to resummon.

The transition is crazy effective. I went from struggling to manage Sirus AL8 deathless, to Sirus not casting any attacks between phases, he instantly transitions to the next phase.

So the amulet and a proper helmet are all it takes to transition? Does +3 Minion Gems actually do more than Minion Life Support?

How does the +Minion Level help the Chaos Golem isn't socketed there?

What would make for an "immortal Animated Guardian"? And what is the "usual" stuff for AG? Sorry, first time playing minions :)

An amulet and helmet is "all" it takes. Helms with those and the flesh offering enchant start at 15ex, and a Bone Helm with those and the enchant is 90!

You need the +3 to minion gems to get 4 spectres. With +2, you can only have 3. The extra spectre is a big bonus. Minion life is what keeps your minions alive.

+Minion level doesn't help with the chaos golem, my mistake.

An immortal Animated Guardian just means it never dies. When it's socketed in that helm, with a 21/20 AG gem, chances are it'll never die. With the notable exception of Hall of the Grandmasters, that will kill all your minions pretty quickly.

If you're running on a budget and using a +2 helm, or a helm without the minion life support, I'd suggest using cheap gear for the guardian. The usual gear is:

-Kingmaker (Swap to Dying breath if on a budget)
-Gruthkul's Pelt (or AoE blind Rare body armour)
-Leer Cast
-Victario's Flight
-Southbound Gloves
