Ball Lightning changes seem fine for us, will depend on the crit changes to the tree they talked about

OK, so ball lightning got a 25% more base damage buff, while the slower projectiles nerf is equivalent to 28.6% less ball lightning damage. This means ball lightning deals 11% less damage overall, which is not too bad. Let's see how the new passive tree looks like.
11% overall damage nerf could be worse. Everything else got hit hard.

You can make up the damage nerf a bit with some aoe though right? Any mathematicians out there want to figure out how much inc aoe to cover it? I think we're fine either way though, Lucidity node + boot enchant to deal with stun and BL itself will still be very strong. Excited for the league now Pog!
I want to sleep so im not sure in my math logic,so correct me if im wrong here.
In current state lvl 21 SP doubles amount of BL hits.

50% slower = x2 hit BL
30% slower = x1.6 hit BL (not sure its 1.6,but close enough,right?)

if BL hit is 10 000 and it hits 1 time then

10 000 x 2 = 20 000
10 000 + 2500 (25% buff) = 12 500
12 500 x 1.6 = 20 000

Is there really a difference?It will clear faster,so it is a buff,right?

True, but we already got 40% inc AoE from the tree, so taking more than that might not be efficient.

But I want to clarify that the damage nerf won't have a big impact since 89% of a lot of DPS is still a lot.

Someone on Reddit has done some math and it appears to check out if the linked BL DPS spreadsheet is accurate:

49% wasn't even necessary to hit the 13 hit cap. Going down to 30% you (coincidentally) lose 30% damage (10 hits from 13), but gain 25% more raw damage. If you pick up a single area cluster on the tree (i.e Blast Waves) to up our total hits to 11, you actually have gained damage.

100,000 base hit before * 13= 1.3M

125,000 base hit now (with blast radius) * 11 = 1.375M"

This is a miner discussion (Blast Waves is for mines but we already have the same aoe gain elsewhere) but according to the calculator we can actually gain damage on BL itself! We might still lose a little overall from the crit multi nerfs when it's all said and done but it sure looks good to me!

Note that this discussion assumes you cast or trigger BL far from the target (i.e. the target is outside the range of BL). While self-casting and mine builds can do this, we can't do it because the aoe of cyclone is smaller than that of BL. We did need 40% inc AoE to reach the 13-hit cap.
The calculator appears to account for needing 40% inc aoe to reach 13 hits. Is the calculator wrong for our purposes? If so, how could we tweak it to be more accurate for Coc? Thanks for the replies!
