[3.15]Archmage Ball Lightning Hierophant, will it work in Expedition?

Is this build viable for Hardcore? I think I like it, but wanting to play hardcore. Thanks in advance!

I've done it lots of times, I don't reroll other than no regen/reflect ele.

I've also done it carrying 2 other people at the same time, so 3 person HP, though I only rolled that one blue with just the inc AOE mod. I think higher carries are possible, but honestly it's annoying/difficult if flameblast lady decides to spawn in the middle and you don't kill her instantly (I could probably rotate to her faster and kill her but also I am bad).

It is definitely far from perfect, if you look at poe.ninja there are lots of different ways to play the build, and they all seem to work well, so do what suits you. 100ex is more than enough, if you need to save some currency on my gear use a single mod watchers eye with just penetration, its much cheaper. Also the helm is really unnecessary, just any old helm with mana/life/enchant is good enough tbh.

Also maybe worth noting i use GMP instead of slower proj for clear, and have another ammy with mind drinker on it.

Yeah they're using watchers eyes to suit. I found for me the best damage was to keep a essence worm with just wrath, use supreme ego, and then have conductivity on hit on my other ring. Does make res's harder though. Because I'm just pumping DPS for no reason (build already has enough) I am using conductivity on hit and snipers mark with the whispers of doom annoint, you really don't need to though.

Absolutely is! Though I would follow the Alkaizer version of the build, he has a video on his youtube channel. That way you're getting fortify and a bit of a bigger focus on defenses in the tree.

As you can see in my profile im filling up resistances with rings, gloves, belt cluster passive and one jewel what is not realy easy :) If i could give up some of those resistances i think i would use better rings and got much more dmg what is not realy needed since we can melt last phase of sirius if we would get couple of lucky crits :)

Hey guys loving the build. I play on my xbox series X cause love my CX 65 " to much haha. Any tips with my character for upgrades at level 85 atm? Got a pledge 6 linked it after 400 fusing so not to bad. Made a big difference going from 6 linked foul staff.

Manas at 6000 which good I think and regen about 1600 atm. Life's 3.8k atm. Trying get more to not get one spotted. But any tips would be amazing.

I'm hoping someone can review my character (GriffFP) and let me know if you see any errors or reasonable upgrades that can be made (<10ex)? I just rolled it the other day and am clearing all bosses but feel perhaps the damage or survivability can be better, I just don't have an eye for it.

If you're going to run the crit version of the build, you need crit mutli. You've got heaps of wasted points on your tree, and also taken the -%mana cost nodes, if I were you'd I'd remove them and spend my money on a few triple crit multi or double multi + mana jewels. Most of your gear is decent, helm could use some love. If you just want damage curse on hit ring is nice but expenny to get with mana/life/res so maybe not yet.

It is but keep in mind there are a lot of softcore noobs in this thread (95% or even more). They build 3.5-4k Life weak glass cannons and die a lot. You need 5k of Life and 9-10k of Mana to survive at the T16+ maps doing bosses, Ults, The Feared and other tough content.

Actually this build has downsides like:
1. BL locks your slow clunky character in place. It is irrelevant on SC but on HC it is critical especially on Ults, Vaal Temple, Putrid Cloister map or any content when you [accidently] have to tank fast enemy attacks.

2. The build uses mana to utilize the Archmage and as you understand your mana is your HP. So basically it is like using Blood Magic with huge Life regen. And when you're using "blood magic" you reduce your effective HP pool. It's very critical if your character got hit with heavy slam and you only had <50% of your mana.

3. I recommend you to use Divergent Arcane Surge with prolonged effect because there is a small window when your arcane surge expires and the Arcane Cloack is still on cooldown. It's about 1 sec at level 21: at this moment your character is very weak - arcane cloak is on CD and Arcan Surge is off (unless you hit the target). But at this moment you can make mistake and be hit by Sirus "DIE!" beam. With Divergent version you sacrifice 0.5% of mana regen but have 100% uptime the ailment immunity.

4. For Ults on HC I decided to utilize several mechanics:

4.1. Flask setup:
- Rumi's Concoction for the blocking Attack damage. Buy the best roll, it's about 100c on the dead market of the dead game.
- Basalt Flask with Bleed immunity and Phys damage reduction
- Quartz Flask (for Phasing and Dodge) with Curse Immunity
- Diamond Flask with Increased Crit chance mod from Catarina
- Quicksilver with Movemement speed mod.

4.2. Fortify is mandatory. I used 4L because I hate clunky setups and the whole build is still VERY-VERY clunky and slow. This is the reason why it's shit. So 4L Fortify:
- Vigilant Strike + Fortify + Ancestral Call + Faster Attacks

4.3. Void Sphere setup for crowd control:
- Void Sphere + Sigil + Increased AoE + Increased Duration <- two skills benefits from two support gems.

4.4. Sinvicta for the Rampage on the secondary tab. It's a bit tricky to use it but it's very helpful on the later waves of the Ults. You have to fire the balls then switch to secondary tab, wait 1 sec and then switch back to BL.

4.5. You must have Stun avoidance. I recommend you not to you use those boots that were recommended by the noobs (because of no life mod) but get avoidance from the abyss jewel, mods on the gear like Alkaizerxxxxxx has.

4.6. Disorienting Display on tne Large Cluster for the Blind debuff. It halves enemy Chance to Hit.

At this moment you need 20 ex for the Pledge of Hands and about 6-10 ex for the Cloak of Defiance, Atziri's Foible is 3 ex and the Atziri's Helmet is 3-4 ex. It's bare minimum. So prepare to spend at least 50+ ex on the build because you need decent Life on the other gear parts without losing the Mana. Probably you will want to buy Unnatural Instinct for AoE and Mana, it's 20 ex. AoE is important for the build because the Balls' MUST overlap to hit single target.

Also listen carefuly SC noobs and never trust ppl playing Tutorial Mode... I mean softcore. Alkaizer has decent HC viable setup but the version with the Void Sphere is a safer unless you wanna die till hit level 100 unless you play without mistakes :)

The DPS of BL calculated by multiplying BL's Average Hit x 6.6667 x Number of Balls which overlap (depends on AoE). The Cast Speed only affects on "effective AoE" and clunkyness of the gameplay.

This is example of doing map Ult on HC level 82.
