Question concerning Jewelled Foils
Hellohello!
I am slowly getting to the point where my damage output kind of lacks, especially when playing with my pal in a party of 2. I can clear T16 maps and bosses pretty easily, but when playing in a party my max block Glad reaches his limits. Until now my weapon of choice was a (not perfectly rolled) Ahn's Might, but I thought that it might be the time to switch to real endgame weapons like Jewelled Foils - so I got myself one for 2 exalts. The thing is... I don't feel that much of a difference when playing. PoB even says that the DpS is a bit lower than with the Ahn's Might. Did I miss something or is my Foil just not good enough? Thanks for helping me out! Here are my weapons.... The Ahn's Might cost like 10c, so I thought I'd see a huge improvement when buying a Foil for 2 ex. Thank youuuu! I'd say that isn't an upgrade is why you don't notice the difference, if you have many sources of flat physical damage being added the rapier would pull ahead from its attack speed but numerically this is a 304 dps rapier vs a 323 Ahns, so the crit multi is gonna put the Ahns ahead.
Are you playing on console? There is no chance that foil would cost 2ex on SC Metamorph (I think) |

Thanks for your quick reply! That's what I thought.
And right, I am playing on PS4 so the market isn't particularly flooded with good swords. ^^ The ones that would clearly be an improvement go for like 5 ex or so. |

Yeah sorry i can't really give advice about the console market that is why I asked. No idea what anything costs lol. If you have access to some fossils i'd try and craft your own a 300 dps 1h is fairly easy to craft and if your lucky you can get something substantially better.

Look at the physical damage (under quality).
The foil; (102+206) / 2 x 1.98 (attacks per second) = 305 pdps Vs Ahns Might (145+349) /2 x 1.30 = 321 pdps So you foil is a downgrade - a expensive one... "The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried." - Stephen McCranie

Alright then.. ^^ Thanks for your answers, I now know that I made a big mistake. 2ex is quite a lot for me and I hope I'll be able to resell that thing asap.
Considering the crafting: I'd go with serraded, jagged and/or shuddering ones and just hope for the best? Scour and repeat if it doesn't work? Thanks again, I am quite the noob and try to get a hang of it. ^^ |

it depends what you have available but https://poedb.tw/us/mod.php?cn=One%20Hand%20Sword gives you a good idea of what to go for. You tick the boxes and it removes mods or puts a +1 next to the ones you are more likely to roll so you can decide.
Everyone has their own preferred way, where i'm playing i'd just spam jagged as despite the odds being worse i can buy like 5x as many jaggeds as anything else. Like just as an example if you made a resonator with jagged, corroded, prismatic it can't roll anything but phys and unlabelled mods, however this is pretty expensive to spam. |

Befor I write the steps down, there are a lot of video guides.
This, for example: https://youtu.be/0SzL7G6lfG8 Or when you search for "poe craft foil" then there are many results. " With heavy strike als a 6-link it is quite obvious. :-P There are better skills for a gladiator. Like Lacerate, Cyclone, Blade Flurry, or Bladestorm. But most important, check the dps on weapons before you buy them. Don't concentrate on the affixes alone. When the base is bad, even the greatest affixes cannot save it. " Awww.. don't say that. XD I love the close up combat gameplay with 6-link heavy strike for single target and pseudo 5-link cyclone for aoe. Having at least two usable skills makes me enjoy the game much more. I also got to the endgame (well, almost. 16 Watchstones but no Sirus yet) without really following a guide, so I am actually rather proud of this build. Haha ^^ Thanks for the crafting tips and the video, I'll give it a try over the weekend and let you know what came of it. |

Just lookin' at your build. For an immediate DPS increase, just swap these two jewels around.
