Btw Ninja is referencing to WoW, the most random/mainstream game ever, is this your target GGG? [/b]

What? YOU know it from WoW, it's been around gaming circles far longer than WoW ever existed.

Well I can only add one more voice to the threads by saying removing name on loot is BAD.

I don't understand why would you do that, I never pub party because well ninja are everywhere and I don't want to battle against the monster, and for my loot I'am more of a relaxed progress player, I don't rush I have time.

In party play this patch is rly horrible, how are we supposed to know about the loot ?

I'll only play with friends and it's gonna hurt badly the gameplay.

Remove the timers. Keep the names.

That'd be perfect for premades. And this is way loot options are needed -> because premade and public play is just so much different.
A lot of discussion, a lot of opinions and suggestions. In order to avoid most of the arguments and problems and make things less complex there is only one way: loot being visible only to the individual player, like T2 (or D3). That is of course if the competitive looting concept will be dropped.
Loot system was awesome before patch. Only thing they should have changed was pick up radius. The fact that you can't pick your item if there is 3 players around it (you still can't), just making it so that if you click your loot in time you'd get it. Solution at the moment is just horrible.

"Was it easier to read what items drop now that fewer are allocated and the size of the item hovers doesn't change?"

Reading what items drop was never an issue. Oddly enough, removing the names made is easier to tell what was mine. Even though the color codes were the same as now, I always defaulted to reading the name, which was a slowdown. Now that the names are gone, I just go "oh, gold letters, must be mine".

As far as magic no longer allocating, not really sure how that makes it easier to read. The issue is when there's amass of the things on the ground. On bosses, it becomes a game of hunting for the magic item you want before others find it among the pack.

"Does the increased allocation duration help enough in terms of being able to grab items in time assuming you react quickly?"

Already had a case of a high end currency dropping for me off screen. I saw a chest open and was able to pick it up before 2 others hovering over it nabbed it. I'd say 'just right'.

If I were to add anything, it would be an odd one: An option to filter shown labels by rarity (i.e. can set it to 'rare and up' so that magic/normal doesn't show up at all). Bonus points if a keypress could be set to toggle between filtered/unfiltered (could be the z key. People who want the old method could just set the filter to 'no items'). Thus if I'm fighting a boss, I could have it filtered to Magic and up, then only see the magic/rare/uniques, scan for anything I need, then hit 'z' to scan the normals.

Extra bonus points for being able to check mark just what items you want to see in the filtered view in case someone just wants to look for rares and currency, or for that rare person who's just hunting for normal items.

Oh, as for the 'named/unnamed' matters, a consideration: Public parties have 'group drops' and thus no names while private parties show the name of the person. It seems the main folks who liked the names are groups of friends who liked that easy way of splitting up loot.

There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.

This game really isn't for people like that.

This game is for people who'll do the same area over and again because they know..., a Mirror can drop anywhere, anytime. - CharanJaydemyr
This patch is just result of GGG thinking inside their box. Trying to tune something that many people don't want in any form and don't play because of that. I'm sure someone will post, that he is happy that others don't play anymore.

BTW: I have watched today's Krip video. Krip dropped item on the ground for other player. This player picked it up before Krip computer even displayed the item on the ground. It seems to me, that if you want loot, you have to use third party programs...
I like the removal of names. If something is darkened out, I stand near it and click it repeatedly until a) I pick it up or b) someone beats me to it. If it's not dark, then it's either a) mine or b) someone else's, but they didn't pick it up in time - ergo it's a) mine.

Here is a terrible idea I wrote and did not think through
"
The removal of a timer is good for undarkened items since it says "this is available, come and get it". However - I'd like darkened items to be invisible. People should not cluster around a yellow drop while they wait for it to unassign itself and become free to loot, as it's . After the invisible timer runs out, the loot should become visible to everyone.

It is terrible because ranged characters would once again be at a disadvantage to melee, and as such, take this as an example of why you shouldn't listen to everyone. I also stopped writing it halfway through because it's really dumb.

Many times people divide loot (currency espec) after timers gone. Now its not possible basicaly everyone can claim it for yourself...

Pickup radius is big problem too, because you can basicaly block people from loot and ninja it.

If loot drops but you never see it, how could you be upset you didn't get something you never knew even existed?

by the simple possibility of loosing/missing an item (for the group)? If you play solo, it also can happen that there's a drop from a monster died aout of sight, behind you, but you can take care and avoid this by being careful. In a group, the area where items may drop for you can be much larger (depending on the chars distribution) - and I cant imagine that many people would like to not see that there's an Exalted dropped at there feet, only cause it is assigned to another partymember...
