I presume Kinetic Bolt is an attack and not a spell, so you would have to attach it to Ballista Support (which requires a whole different build concept).
Hello. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who contributed to this thread and especially to Wallach. I'm a new player, with this being my first league, so it took me a while to get this build off the ground. I began playing POE in January and spent the first month just learning the very basics of the game (I hadn't played an ARPG since I was a kid back during Diablo 2) and experimenting with different classes etc. I discovered I liked the totem play style while making another build, an Incinerate Elementalist, which used a totem as a secondary skill to lower enemies fire resistance similar to how this build utilizes Frost Bomb. After not being able to get that build past level 89, I decided to give a proper totem build a try and settled on this one. After about a month or so of work this is the progress I've made. It's not perfect but I think it's pretty decent. I'm just now learning to use PoB and still haven't learned how set it up properly...it doesn't recognize one my jewels at all, it doesn't seem to account for the two curses when using Awakened Curse on Hit nor does it seem to factor in my amulet. Consequently, I'm not going to provide a link with Shaper DPS but what I can say is that the build feels very powerful. I'm not very good at the game and I'm still having trouble dodging hazards but last night I was able to kill Sirus deathless for the first time (usually..it would take me 1-5 portals) and I did so before he even got to his "Feel the thrill of the void" nonsense...so that was very exiting because I've been really struggling to dodge that beam.

Anyway..this is my gear. I barely know how to craft so most of the items I bought except for the chest piece which I corrupted and linked myself back when I couldn't afford the going rate. The gloves I bought and then used a Warlord Orb on them hopping to get Increased Spell Damage but I got melee instead...oh well. Everything else is from the community.




Since I haven't noticed anyone else use it, I'm going to quickly explain the reasoning behind the Brutal Restraint Jewel. I have Militant Faith as well and properly set up so it does not affect any of the nodes and it does give me a bit more DPS but Brutal Restraint gives so much more flexibility due to the dexterity bonuses. In terms of mods, after spending around 4-5 ex worth of divines on it, I've settled on the following bonuses: 5% movement speed, 20% Evasion, 5% Cast Speed, 10% Increase effect of Non-Curse Auras, 20% Increased Projectile Damage, 10% Chance to avoid being Stunned and 5% Chance to blind on hit. There are some other good ones in the pool like 4% to max life or 20% increased elemental damage and since mods call roll multiple times, I don't feel like I've absolutely optimized it but I'm pretty satisfied for now. For comparison, in my hideout with just my auras and one curse active my POE DPS with Militant Faith is 525K...with Brutal Restraint it drops to 515K.

The highest I attempted was a level 11 Blighted map, I melted everything. And I didn't even have the mirror, just 2 crappy wands.
So those mana gems... Since this build runs unreserved, Archmage support looks like it could offer a lot of value depending on numbers and might Arcane Cloak be on the table as a defensive instead of steelskin?

I'm really not sure about Archmage until I see the gem itself. It's still competing with a damage support, and we don't actually want to burn excessive amounts of mana summoning totems in combat. I'm also not sure how the damage bonus interacts with totems (or if it can even support totems).

Arcane Cloak is much more likely to be a good option for this build I think, though it isn't something we'll be able to CWDT like Steelskin.
How does this build compare to Div Ire variant?

Also how good is it as league starter? Does the build still fare well before the self curse gear?

Honestly I haven't checked up on Divine Ire totems in 3.9, but in general I'd say Freezing Pulse totems trades single target potential for better clear speed & general quality of life.

I've personally league started with it the past couple leagues and had a great time. You generally don't want to transition to pure totems until your second labyrinth is completed, after which point it's pretty smooth sailing. The "core" items (Soul Mantle and Kikazaru rings) are pretty common items so it isn't very difficult to get the build rolling early on.

You can check out the leveling tips section for more info, or my league start video series from 3.8 / 3.9 (in the videos section of the second post) to get an idea of how my progression has gone using the build to league start.
am i missing something here? the first snow jewel under mind over matter node, you dont have 40 int in that jewel radius?
