" I'm not an expert in this build yet, but from personal experience, if you ever want to push the build to Atziri's Reflection, better to do it early, so you won't need to invest in temporary items just to cover your res. So, if you can farm ~15ex in a few days just go for it. If you need damage right now and can balance resists, then yes, pandemonius would be a good choice, so would be a wand upgrade. |

I'm still learning a lot about this game so I'm hoping anyone can answer these for me.
Since I'm using Coward's Legacy (you count as on low life), I got Starkonja's Head for the defense. Do the low life mods on that helm apply at all times for me? I still suck at playing so I die a lot without good defenses. Also, I maxed my chaos resist but I've noticed a lot of other folks with very low chaos resistance. Why don't some people bother adding chaos resistance? I'm not referring to people with chaos inoculation. Is there another reason I'm missing? EDIT: I may be a complete idiot. Does the "50% Reduced Damage" mean I actually deal less damage? I thought it meant that I take 50% less damage. :( Last edited by bffinn on Feb 19, 2020, 10:59:18 PM

" You are correct, this item will redice your damage and you should avoid it. From my experience this build is just not very tanky, and you are expected to be a glass cannon, letting monsters aggro to your totems and utilizing natural obstacles to hide from dangerous enemies, such as T16 metamorphs, letting totems do their job. You don't need a direct line of sight to damage them, just spawn totems in such a way that they can shoot around the corner! Of course there are some nasty boss encounters in small open areas (e.g Core map), so ultimately you need to learn some dodging skills and boss mechanics. Make sure not to reserve any mana and balance your MOM (in a way that your max life = 1.5 * max mana), so with ~6500 effective HP + ~1500 ES on top of that you at least have some margin for error. Eventually, after investing 100ex or so in god-tier gear, you will just one-shot or perma-freeze everything including bosses, so this will become less of a problem, but still, you should take care not to just run or dash blindly inside a monster pack. Chaos resistance is routinely neglected by most builds, and the game is sort of balanced this way. Personally, I know of only two enemies which simply one-shot me with chaos damage - Uber Q'ura (from Trio in Alluring Abyss), and her namesake in Vaal Temple map. But you can just one-shot her early in the fight, or avoid these encounters completely, do you really want to sacrifice so much dps for these two fights? Also, you have an option to simply use Atziri's Flask, it will help (to some extent). And don't forget about poison immunity in pantheon for regular mapping. Bosses like Sirus, Uber Atziri, etc, will also one shot you with certain attacks no matter what (as they will almost every other build), this is just the way it is, so it's better to just concentrate on dps to kill them as quick as possible. " Calculations are correct (other way to say this: make your mana equal to 0,66 * life). But this is just for that first hit. If you want to tank consecutive hits, you need even more mana since you regain life faster than mana. Especially if you use Panicked Life Flask. I highly recommend Panicked flask since we are low life at all times so recovery is instant. But having room for mana affixes is hard and luxury. What I'm trying to say: don't scoff at mana max affixes if you manage to get them. | |
" Thanks for verifying this for me .. Act 10 Kitava ONe SHot me because I was just being casual thinking it wouldn't even hurt me. Well it did so I started over.. SO another question - does any 1 else consider incorporating Minions to the build ? I did and was using Golems and Spectres before I ripped and currently using Zombies while I rebuild. I don't want to invest too much to minions as Ive played Necros this entire league really. Is it even worth it ?? In game since Minotaur League..

" I'm using a lightning golem (+meat shield) in this build and quite happy with it (and not just me, this seems to be a popular choice if you browse poe.ninja). But being an addicted golemancer elementalist in previous lives, I'm appaled how squishy golems are without primordial items. Still, it does provide an additional target for monsters and gives extra cast speed, even though I usually have to respawn it a few times per map. EDIT: regarding survivability discussion above, today I got myself severely drunk and in this state ran a couple of alva's temples (didn't get a single corruption altar btw) + all the required incursions on randomly alched yellow maps completely careless. And that was a risky affair btw, as I'm 30% into lvl 96 and would really like to keep that XP. That included all omnitects, metamorphs and map bosses of course. I've been dashing inside monster packs, clearing at max speed, not hiding from metamorphs, and still never seen myself below 50% life. Red maps are a completely different beast of course, but still, I'm not as squishy as I thought! Last edited by Chrisophylacks on Feb 21, 2020, 2:01:53 AM

What do you think about Astral Projector + Ice nova? You need reflection for that though for the ring. Would clear up two jewel slots too for more damage.

" Can't tell for sure without POB link, but overall it looks like you have much more life than me, but probably less mana. Please check if your MOM is balanced and ele res are capped. Anyway, I've posted slightly above my experience with the build - if you're getting one shot regularly you're probably misplaying. Because when playing "correctly" (i.e. cautiously) I usually don't get hit at all, all the mobs just die offscreen. When I get too careless I die randomly in T4 map on Jun's mission, like I did today. |
