Hi,
Thanks a lot for the updates.
I played BL miner last league using mostly this build and I have a few questions:

1. How do you actually calculate how many ticks you get based on AoE and slower projectiles?

2. Where on PoB can I see the total increased AoE? You mentioned that we need "128% increased AoE AND Adjacent Animosity" so I was wondering where I can check that.

3. Do we have 11 ticks while having dying sun active? I think the pre-aoe-nerf build did not need it to get to 13 ticks, or am I wrong?

P.S. I tried all the BL builds I could find last league and ended up keeping yours. Kudos for a really well made, in-depth guide.

Thanks for all the input, I came to a lot of similar conclusions than you do. Although I do struggle to let born in the shadows go.

Practical question for league start: I usually go life version with a tremor rod to farm currency for another build .

What is your early league routine? At what point do you transition LL? In term of gear, atlas progression (about) and time in the league? Do you just go when you get a shav?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, as soon as I can get a shavs and 5 link it. Typically that will be better than a 6 link tremor rod and about the same investment - Shavs also holds its value well into the middle of the league.

Tanks for the answer. I do disagree with your point of equivalence, because I love to play minefield for all the effects that we get that needs mine laid down. And the double trigger from tremor rod helps massively in this regard

Plus, I need the mana to support that gameplay with 23 mines, so i need to link both blastchain mine AND high impact mine to considerably reduce reservation cost, which is only realistically doable on the 7 link that tremor rod offers. In my pob, I need both a 6 link shav AND a good wand to be able to match the dps, and i'll never have the same amount of mines laid down at a time, appart from pre casting for a boss.

But it is good to know you're able to get going with "just" a 5link shav, I may try it out this league.

Thanks again for all your work, I know it's a bit unrewarding. You're helping a lot of people!

2. on the calc tab (top left) by selecting ball lightning, you have a field with the AOE and if you hover you have it fully detailed, same for proj speed.

3. answer will come from the spreadsheet in 1/
Thanks for the reply!

I just made some calcs and it seems I only had 11 ticks in Heist with my build and it still felt OP. I guess I won't notice any difference now with the nerf if I build correctly.

That being said I was still struggling a lot with 5 x Delirium maps. I really liked running them though. Will the new nerfed build be able to handle something like this.
I'm willing to invest 5-20ex per item slot but not more...

Thanks

There is a BL calculation out there that I’m using for it, I’m going to link it in OP when I have some time today.

With Dying Sun active you will can get 13 ticks, but you still need to pick up more AOE from the tree to get to the 128% that’s required.

As far as counting AoE, it’s just a manual calculation as it isn’t displayed anywhere.

It’s all about relative investment for me.

If I was planning on swapping builds as soon as I hit enough currency to do so, I would probably go the life route as well, but I generally play the build until the end game and until I have amassed several hundred ex for a true GG build.

With that in mind, any life gear and tremor rod that I buy is 100% a sunk cost as they won’t sell back for anything after the first week or two, whereas I can continue to use ES gear that I buy (it’s similar in price to life gear) and shavs holds it value well into the late stages of the league.

Also, in terms of survivability, the LL version blows the life version out of the water.

Typically, if I’m going hard, I’ll beat A8 sirus on a 5l shavs by the end of day 4-5.

Note with this you have to make some adjustments in the calculations due to changes with BL over the past year (unsure if you already did this)

Overall the damage is similar, if not higher this league, it’s just going to have less ES since you need to take a bit more AoE on the tree. The skill didn’t change at all, so if it felt OP last league, it will feel the same this league.

I believe the wiki spreadsheet (the oen i linked) has been updated in september with the new radius of 18 if this is what you're refering to. IF there is something else to update, I did not indeed :) .

Fair point for the es gear reusability. I enjoy having 2 char, one as a god mapper and the other as a boss killer, so i don't mind not selling the miner's gear. And you're absolutely right about LL survival >>> life version.
