Cobra Lash

Increase attack speed multiplier, reduce mana cost to compensate. Keep damage the same. Or 8% more multiplier for poisons and hits should be doubled for poisons. Will still be worse than molten strike damage wise.
Not sure what is the skill's identity... if it is to apply many poisons fast, then molten strike with returned projectiles does many times more damage and poison applications. That is actually my problem with all of these poison skills, other skills excel at applying high dps poisons compared to these. So what is the point of having them? Poison based skills should have poison specific multipliers, to entice use for that specific purpose. |

This and being used to Trinity builds.... A chaos damage skill gem being used for the elemental damage.
Doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Pff, who even plays Standard?

Please give Cobra Lash some sort of compensation. The current planned nerf to follow through cluster jewel passive destroys one of the only viable ways to scale Cobra Lash damage outside of super high investment attribute stacking builds.

I have to think that GGG nerfed follow-through not realizing what it would do to Cobra Lash. Please adjust to compensate in the next few days if you would - this is very depressing to the skill I have used for 5 straight leagues and it is not OP. The nerf basically halfs the damage on a totally normal setup which uses 4 medium clusters (of repeater and follow-through).
https://maxroll.gg/poe/pob/e3huh0lr Path of Building showing swap out of Follow-Through with best alternative streamlined. DPS goes from 9.7 million to 3.4 million with just this one change. That is how impactful this nerf is. And there are no alternatives on the tree to get back damage. Last edited by MrWonderful99#4612 on Mar 4, 2026, 6:27:38 PM

Hope some at GGG reads this.
You really did managed to ruin Cobra Lash even more, the level of investment required to be able to run endgame stuff is just absurd, and all this because you nerfed one of the available sources of damage to Cobra Lash. Having to stack 6~9 Follow-Through jewels just shows how trash Cobra Lash has become. It's completely ruined, not even joking, it's trash now. The alternative right now is to stack Ward and gain damage through Nightgrip, which sucks. Pff, who even plays Standard?

Well, they did add , which besides giving +1 chain, also gives 50% more Chains, in my case, I went from 13 to 21 chains, but this alone doesn't compensate Follow-Through stacking.
My Combined DPS went from 32m to around 14m (against mobs), and my Single Poison DPS went from 1.5m to 700k (against mobs). It's a massive nerf... So now, the only options are (until GGG decides to nerf them), stat stacking or ward stacking+Nightgrip. Pff, who even plays Standard? Last edited by ZarkBit#6794 on Mar 10, 2026, 10:25:43 PM

A lot of people are upset that they have to rework their build as they logged in to suboptimal choices, but I haven't heard of anybody actually reinvesting time or currency into their cobra lash build so listening to them tell it is almost comical.
As it stands now, Cobra Lash and Venom Gyre are simply better for scaling elemental damage than they are at scaling poison damage. Part of that is just how hard you can scale elemental damage, but part of it is how inaccessible poison is. Take for example Volkuur's Guidance : https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Volkuur%27s_Guidance Yes, it lets you include ONE additional elemental damage in your base damage calculation for poison, however it has this pesky "50% less poison duration" mod on it, not reduced, less. That is literally a 0.5x modifier for poison damage since poison damage scales with duration so any potential gains you get from including lightning or cold damage into the base damage calculation are halved which makes it, and I mean this in the full sense of the word, impossible to actually incorporate into a build and gain damage. (i literally went back and looked at the current status of poison after I typed this and its in a fairly good place after the changes in 3.25 otherwise, but volkuur's guidance has been a glaring issue for poison builds since it was implemented and I don't think its ever been used in any build in any league I played in because of that 50% less poison duration/damage) Actually, you know what, an independent 15% chance per remaining chain to apply apply an additional poison would make it pretty competitive with PCoB IGN : Reamus

" Yeah, unfortunately that has been the case for years now, elemental damage and then stuff like Trinity is what I've seen most people do with Cobra Lash, which is fine considering the type of game PoE is, but it's a bit frustrating, even more when they removed the added chaos damage from it, but oh well. As for additional stacks, I honestly don't understand why GGG doesn't try to make overcapped poison chance to act as a chance for additional poison stacks. 145% chance to poison, 100% guaranteed + 45% for additional poison. This was actually one of my fist assumptions when I started playing PoE, coming from Warframe where crit chance over 100% counts towards higher tier crits. Instead they do this but damn, having to sacrifice a gem slot which could have something else that actually helped boost its DPS or have a QoL like MP, Chain, Fork, MS, and then there's the 30% less poison damage, oof.... Pff, who even plays Standard?
