I start it at level 16 when I can use desecrate + spell cascade + Arcane Surge on a 3L. faster Casting on an eventual 4L.

You can use it sooner than that with Unearth, but it wont feel as good.

Ok I found my league starter :D Sounds fun as hell.

I'll probably start self cast and evolve towards automation with time. Make sens right?

It seems like the removal of CwC mod on shaper 2 handers is supressing on way of accessing to the build (maybe killing the high end part?), but there is still plenty to work around.

Do you plan on updating the thread for 3.9?

Edit: I don't know where my brain was but I was reading detonate dead instead of volatile dead the whole time (I'm new to these skills). Anyhow, one could switch one for another and the build would work right?

You can certainly self cast until you get Scold's. That's what I did...(and got lucky and bought the first Scold's to enter market on day 1...lol)

You could use DD if you wanted to, but Volatile is the superior skill for this setup since the corpses used on CWDT are of low level and therefore low health. This doesn't matter much for Volatile Dead, but Detonate Dead scales a LOT of base damage on corpse health. Also VD balls seek and destroy.

The way they worded the Manifesto it seems they're only removing the %Physical Damage+Support modifiers, not the other ones. Will have to see patch notes to be certain, worst case we lose a link or two (I use an 8L staff). Still millions of DPS to be had.

I will be making updates to this once the patch notes are released. based on the manifesto all that's happening is we are receiving a minor damage nerf from the shock we apply to enemies near corpses (20% -> 15% increased damage taken). The buff to enemy resistances also drops our DPS a bit, but, that's still not enough to be terribly noticeable when I ended Blight League with 1.6 million Shaper damage per ball.

I'll have to read about corpse level then. I'm really open to both VD and DD so I'll just take what feels smoother. I heard VD search procedure could be weird and that the damage ramp up can be "slow". But if you choose VD I bet it's the best.

I also figured, lately, that single "supported by" mod were not specifically pointed out in the manifesto. Patch note in several hours, can't wait.

And yes the small general nerfs kind of affect every builds. Your high dps build should stay up there.

Can't wait for your 3.9 update! I'll also do my homework. I still don't know anything about most mechanics involved. Kind of the last side of poe I did not look into. I like to put my touch in builds, will see if I can offer interesting remarks, or not :D

VD AI was a bit wonky at the start of 3.8, but they fixed it.

I like that I can keep my distance with VD + Cyclone if I need to because the balls just kinda GO FORTH and kill everything, even off screen. It's nice.

Edit:
Added a 3.9 update section.
Edit #2:
Updated the guide for 3.9 in all (or most) areas. Also added a leveling tree POB in the leveling section. This is a tree-only PoB Putting it here for reference as well.

Thanks for your super fast update.

What would be the best unique weapon for the build? Pledge of hands is slightly better than martyr of innocence right?

Are you sure than CWC as a mod on a rare is still available?

Pledge of hands doesn't really work for us as CWC. Even as self cast I tested it and it was far to slow. Felt terrible.

They specifically singled out the hybrid Damage+Support Gem mods because of how powerful they are. This only effects Power Charge on Crit and Arcane Surge support modifiers on staves as those have spell damage attached to them.

Martyr is the best "cheap" unique staff. You can also opt to dual wield or 1H+Shield instead of using a staff. Staves give access to very potent crit nodes in the tree and the 7th link. That's their main draw.

That said...

Duskdawn is strong (but also more expensive) and it doesn't even come close to the damage output of Marty of Innocence.

Soulwrest is a fun option that gives you a small army of minions and some free life regen.

That's about it though.

The patch note says: Hybrid Physical Damage and Support/Spell Damage and Support modifiers can no longer roll on two-handed weapons.

So the hybrid Physical Damage and Support is gone, but also the support one. Right?
Meaning CWC staves are gone.

Edit: Great news, a mod on the subreddit helped me read it right. It's the "/" that separate the two proposisions.

So the modifiers that take the form of "%increased physical damage + socketed gems are supported by X" as well as "%increased spell damage + socketed gems are supported by X" are gone from two-handed weapons. But the non hybrid mod are still here!

Yes, that what I was saying. Haha. You can still get Cast While Channeling Support, but no longer PCoC Support/Increased Spell Damage.

Losing PCoC as an option isn't even that detrimental. It represented 12-20% more damage for this build and easy power charge generation. We can still get the power charges with the spell crit shaper mod and the more damage can be made up for with the bolstered spell damage prefix and/or the Aetheric Fossil mod for 20% more spell damage with sockets skills.

Losing the 20% double damage mod is a pretty big loss though. Still, I was up to 1.6 Million damage per ball ... so, even with all the nerfs the damage output will be fine. Crafting a really good staff will harder sadly.
This might be a big ask, but for noob like me would be huge help

Basic lootfilter for leveling, to find links etc, something like this possible?

Maybe even like, early-mid-late versions

I just use neversinks. You can customize it easily at filterblade. (Just search for it)
