I am somewhat new to minion builds, so excuse this question. but can someone explain to me why skellies need to be aggressive (feeding frenzy) and zomboes don't?
Our skellies don't necessarily "need" to be aggressive. We use Feeding Frenzy Support mostly because it gives us the Feeding Frenzy Buff. It pairs well with Skeletons, due to the fact that they can Dash to things. The damage bonus and increased aggressiveness is certainly a nice bonus, but it's not worth taking as a main support in our zombies.
That being said, I believe it's a necessary gem in our Skelly setup due to the fact that we won't be able to get Feeding Frenzy anywhere else. Feeding Frenzy provides us a stronger overall buff to the entire build rather than just another support like, for example, anything that gives them "% more" damage.
Last little tidbit of information: Our non-aggressive minions will, by default, head to whatever area we are using abilities on, and attempt to attack anything in that area. Remember to keep that in mind; your abilities are basically a "Minion, go here." button. The exception will be Skeletons because they're angry at the world.

About Animate Guardian upgrades and flask setup:
1. Should I grab a lv 21 Animate Guardian gem before going for the expensive setup? Haven't got to anything that was particularly dangerous for my lv 20 one (aside from Acid Caverns boss that almost nuked him from the face of the earth). Lv 21 might be overkill, but hey, better safe than sorry.
2. As this is my first time dealing with Animate Guardian, his gear is tied to the gem, right? What happens if I try to manage the gear on my current Animate Guardian? Is it possible? Or do I have to kill him somehow to be able to re-gear it in the same gem?
3. I know that the POB has flasks set up, but I kinda needed some clarification on a few of those. We're getting Granite with Iron Skin for the phys reduction, ok. Same with Basalt. Do we need Staunching in this build? Does Sulphur's Flask 40% increased damage affect our minions?

When you activate the Animate Guardian on a new item, that item overwrite the one currently being used by it.
Is there an updated PoB pastebin? The one I am using from the main page has a lot of red circles everywhere on it (presuming meaning that the link is out of date and the nodes were updated?).
https://pastebin.com/wDAA3YHd
I tried a quick scan through comments but didn't see anything.
Unless I've done something stupid (PoB is up to date).
How do I check what spectre I have summoned? I can't tell by looking at them..
And where do I put desecrate? I'm using the budget POB link.. Only place I can think of is the ring but I'm unsure if I have to have it there
the only real way to know which spectres you have summoned is by looking at them sadly. However it should be quite easy to spot if you have the right ones, massive gorrila apes that slam their chest and grants frenzy charges, and arenamaster has a horned helmet with a shield and goes BONK BONK BONK all the time ^^

Level 21 gem would of course be better than a 20 gem, as it grants a lot of life in later gem levels. I am using kingmaker on my level 20 and he hasn't been close and i don't even use minion life / gruthkuls right now.
The gear is linked to your character, so you can't trade it any way. As far as replacing gear on him just drop the new item and it'll overwrite the old one.
The sulphur flask is used due to it being the unique bottled faith which affects enemies on consecrated ground, plus its grants regen. As for bleed immunity we have that from bone armour ^^
Should we use Carrion Golem + Maim support to proc the Maim, so we can remove Flesh and Stone and replace it with Pride?
So final setup is: Purity of Elements, Pride, Dread Banner, Maim (from Carrion Golem attack)
i wouldn't pick up pride before endgame, it doesn't at a ton to be fair. Flesh & stone with maim linked is stronger than pride unless the nearby for 4 seconds gets activated, and its really not worth it if you ask me.
