Game of thrones thread go! [ S8 ]

I loved the ending most of my predictions came true. And omg that council scene with Tyrion, everyone is exactly where they are supposed to be.

An amazing ending for an amazing show.

I think Sopranos ended *magnificently*. I benefited from the usual 'wait and see', especially after all the hubbub about that last scene, but hindsight and analysis caught up and revealed just how perfectly crafted it was. That show is supremely marathonable.

The Sopranos is 100% fantastic.

The ending is just so lazy in my view. There has been discussion about subtext, and owning the series for yourself by determining what "you think happened" in the fade to black.

The fact that the writers and directors dont have (or want to share) a view of the shows culmination is infuriating.

The oustanding show deserved better imo.

Eh, I'd say Chase knew what he was doing. The analysis holds up. And something that specifically crafted that holds up under scrutiny shouldn't be called 'lazy'.

I dont know...a superbly written and acted series, full of highly satisfying twists and turns end with a fade and you figure it out?

They wont even say how they interrupt the ending.

I dont think its clever or nuanced. I mean since it appears you liked the fade, can you tell me why? What does the viewer gain by ambiguity?

And I didnt mean to infer the fade was lazy in its production. Clearly they thought about it and agonized over the ending. The fact that they decided on that ending was lazy. An easy way out. Since its up to the viewer to decide, they cant really be held accountable.

It be like Romeo and Juliet ends when Romeo discovers Juliet in the tomb, and then he cries and it fades to black. Does he kill himself? Does she wake and they live happily ever after? Does she find him dead and then kill herself too?

You decide! How brilliant!

Bran cheated, the music stopped and he won because he was already in a chair.

It wasn't bittersweet, it was bland tbh.

Is that not the Game of Thrones way, though? Tywin dying on the toilet, Drogo being poisoned, etc.

I thought one of the major points of the show is you dont get the pay-offs you wanted. That's why my earlier point about how people like all that "subverted" stuff during the build-up, but when it comes to the end, we need those classic tropes to be satisfied.

And I agree, lol. I wanted some pay-offs. The only pay-off we got was the Clegane Bowl, and that's probably because it wasn't in the books, lol. That was something they could play with.

Like if we ignore the bad writing in terms of okay lets ignore it this stupid bitch basically caused danny to go nuts to see her beloved advisor / another kid of her die and all of the other stupid shit shes done she deserved much much worse than a quick one.
