(3.14) Toxic Rain + Caustic Arrow | 5-10m Sirus DPS | Fast + Durable | 50c Budget/SSF Uber Elder

Is there any reason you can't be arsed to make a 3.8 build tree, other than being a lazy bastard?

Thanks. Yeah, when I noticed I wasn't going to getthe damage I bought a stygian vice with ES, some Res to cap me, and some bonus flask charges gained and stuck a mana regen eye in it for another 2.9 mana per second. XD

I also managed to get ar eally nice Watcher's eye that had 12% physical damage taken as lightning damage with Purity of Elements, so I swapped Flesh and Stone for Purity of Elements. Seems to work pretty well. (Oh it also has 2.4 ES regen per second with Discipline and immune to bleed with Malevolence. I got lucky, it wasn't that expensive either.)

I did wonder something though. What's the major difference between Toxic Rain and Caustic Arrow? I notice the damage mod base on Caustic Arrow is insane now. LIke it's sitting at 90k dot damage while my toxic rain says around 18k. Is it really that much stronger or does the tool tip lie?
The tooltip doesn't lie, exactly, but CA clouds don't stack, while TR pods do, and tooltip doesn't take into account a fair number of variables.

If I put a 21/20 CA in instead of my TR, my DOT dps drops from ~8 million to ~1.5 million. Admittedly, this is in a build optimized for TR, even so, I've played CA extensively over the years and it's never been at the same level as this TR setup.

Playstyle between the two is very different as well. CA you'll love sources of extra arrows - quivers that add an arrow are awesome, and you'll want deadeye or scion for the extra projectile as well. Pierce becomes a big deal, as any critter hit along the path of your arrows generates the CA cloud, so if you can pierce 3 targets between you and the final target, you get 4 total clouds, covering a much larger chunk of real estate. No stacking, so attack speed - and even just multiple attacks, become entirely useless. You'll fire once, through as much of the pack as you can, then run around casting support totems, traps, whatever, until everything dies.

Yeah, I was starting to figure that out. The stacking bit. It seems more of a 'fire and forget it' kind of thing and if you need to keep shooting you're doomed. I tried it on a blight boss (not a blight map just one of the normal ones where you find her.) And I just had to keep shooting it with the projectile cuz it wasn't dying in the DOT... Haven't had that problem with TR. Love it.

You mean, like the one listed in the "Changes in Patch 3.8" section in the first post, that's been there since the start of the league?

IF you are planning on spending a bit of currency, I'd recommend dropping Flesh and Stone and adding Grace into the mix up. You'll need to invest in mana reservation to make this work, however, I believe its worthwhile.

The base will be something like this: https://pastebin.com/xFE0BXn9

You'll need to find one additional source of mana reservation, whether that's Conquerer's Potency, Jewel 1% corruptions, Influence 4% node, reduced reserve % on amulet, using an Oil for Sovereign, or a Grace/Discipline/Malevolence reduced reserve enchant on the Helmet (likely the option I'll look for at the beginning). With one of the larger sources (Sovereign or a helmet enchant) a level 3 enlighten should be all that's needed. Play around with your mana until it fits. There's many ways to skin a cat; find one that works for you.

Yeah, if you wanna play CA you probably need to put some filler ability to spam when your caustic ground is already everywhere so no point putting more... I've seen a build like that in Raider section, he uses frenzy as an extra ability with extra utilities like curse of hit and culling strike.

You can also fill the downtime with planting wither totems, casting vaal blight, etc.

I wonder how would CA perform if you combined it with some chaos spells like essence drain and bane, but haven't seen anyone do this (it's not a very popular skill).

I played bane witch in synthesis and the downtime when the dots are ticking and there isn't anything to do more to speed up the damage was getting on my nerves, so I imagine it's similar story with CA. I like levelling with it though as a league starter (can be combined with toxic rain too).

I'm really wondering if 3.9 being "the bow league" will touch CA and toxic rain, or only deal with standard bow skills (read: the ones that scale with weapon damage and crit).
For some reason that POB link doesn't work for me(PoB says there's smth wrong). So, error for 3.8 PoB link *Sad*
Is your POB up to date? I just checked the link Grimjack pasted and it works in my POB.
So, I may have found a weakness for the build. Hall of Grandmasters. The Chaos damage combined with the chaos Inoc on the 'mobs' is crazy. :(

Is there something that can be swapped, like would taking chaos inoc for that place be best?

HoTGM is one of the toughest things in the game, due to the fact that a bunch of the GMs in there are ex-players. Anyone that took Chaos Inoculation is unkillable for us. Even if we go in with a secondary weapon set that deals elemental or physical damage, our tree isn't optimized for those, so the DPS counts usually aren't enough to hurt them.

The only way I've found to do it reliably is in a party, where various members can deal different damage in different ways.

Or run several maps until you get lucky and don't spawn one of the CI build guys.

Imo HOGM is not worth the hassle, it's beatable by handful of builds only out of thousands of existing ones, most known is scorching ray as it's a non chaos degen so counters all these "CI and regain ES on block" boys as degen = no hit = can't block.

For the unique map achiev it's easier to just farm currency for vinktar / putrid cloister / twilight temple (can still skip doryani and perandus, way too expensive).

For specific drops farm it's better to make a dedicated HOGM farmer char.
Hi, so im playing this build in Standard, and using this is my T16 mapper to farm for sulphite for my Nebb Jugg Delver.

I'm currently lvl 86 with it now, and I usually get to around lvl 95, since the PoB goes to lvl 100, what 5 nodes would you say are the least priority and can leave if I only make it to 95?

Secondly, I know I'm only lvl 86, but it feels like stats wise my build is absolutely no where compared to yours when I import my character in PoB, despite having similar-ish gear. But my DPS/DoT is half of yours, I only have about 5.9k eHP and with flasks up I think i'm only reaching 38k Evasion and I don't feel as tanky as I should. Is there any dangerous map mods I should watch out for? Or are there any headhunter mods that can actually be dangerous?

I know two aspects immediately is the helm enchant and the boots corruption. Currently working on the boots corruption but the only Vertex up for sale with a Toxic Rain enchant is just 10% of Physical as extra Chaos Damage and not sure if its worth it?

Also, how important is the -mana cost clarity mod for the Watcher's Eye? Again, in standard there isn't any for sale that has both, the clarity mod and the bleed immunity malevolence mod so I have to pick one or the other. Should I go with a clarity one instead and just go back to replacing one of my flaks with a divine flask of staunching?

Here is my PoB if anyone can have a look and give me some pointers. I've disabled Grace since I don't have the mana for it and I've scrapped the aspect of the spider ring I used to have as I feel like it didn't help much given how quick the build is. To help with defence should I go back to Flesh and Stone to help my low level CWDT+IC setup since I dont have the strength for a high level steelskin?

Also, whats the playstyle for this build? Sorry for all the questions, im still a new player only starting in Legion and never used a bow build. Do I just pop a wither totem at an enemy pack and then right click once to drop a stack of TR and move on to the next pack or do I just spam TR until they are dead and then move on?
