I accidentally bought a 6L 64+ ilvl thicket bow with warlord influence on it. Will this mess up crafting the 6 ex version at all?

If it is under ilevel 68, it can't roll warlord affixes, and therefore you're fine.

If it's higher level than that, you're still mostly fine - all the warlord prefixes are attack mods, so the step where you craft "Cannot roll attack mods" still works for "Remove a random suffix, add a prefix" should still get you +1 to socketed gems.

Keep in mind, you can't multimod for 4 affixes anymore, so you have to settle with the multimod and 2 others, which will leave you with an open suffix. If you opt to exalt slam to fill out the last suffix, you'll have a larger pool of affixes to pull from if your base is level 68+. This isn't necessarily bad, 3 of the 4 Warlords affixes are useful - additional projectile, culling strike, or phasing on hit. I wouldn't put them in the same class as damage boosts, but they are close!

this is the second league I played toxic rain. I again enjoy the build. TY for the guide.

But I have some other item choices, I like to explain.
Last league and this league I spend arround 600 hours on this char & I can say, with some minor adjustments it is an absolute super funny and all content viable (including sirius) char.

Now some gear options I changed:
(I will explain my choices)

Best in Slot (imo)

In general:
I played "Maloney's Mechanism" last league, but it is ABSOLUTE overrated. Don´t waste currency on this. A 3-link caustic arrow in the quiver isn´t worth it. Much better is, to get MORE / ADDITIONAL ARROWS on the quiver and bow. I run a 10 arrow setup, AoE is fantastic and the more arrows, the more overlapping pods = way more damage, than 3-link in maloney´s quiver. Don´t use curse on hit setup in maloney´s quiver, or you overwrite the dispair curse from "witchfire brew flask". By default you are limited to 1 curse at a time...

Gloves:

Best damage option for Gloves = "chaos damage over time multi" from elder base AND "increased projectile damage" from shaper gloves
Two Damage rolls on gloves = super great!
(KEEP IN MIND: toxic rain gem converts / scales "projectile damage" as "over time" damage)

HINT: the implicit from "gripped gloves" DO NOT scale, since this is "projectile attack damage" and not projectile damage.
Best bases for gloves (imo) are evasion/ES glove bases.


Bow:

The only thing I would change here, is the +2 to bow skills, better would be the craft "+2 socketed support skills" instead, because it will boost the empower gem to play also a lvl 28 toxic rain AND it would increase the level on the awakenend support gems by 2 level.

Keep in mind, that "damage over time multiplier" DOES NOT scale as hard as "chaos damage over time multiplier" for toxic rain. These are completely different multipliers. And I exchanged the weaker "damage over time multiplier" for the "+1 arrow" suffix on the bow. In my opinion, way better - since you can say: 20% more arrows = 20% more overall / total damage output...


Quiver:

Get +1 arrow & over time multiplier (or chaos damage over time multiplier - depending on your budget) on the quiver. This will result in a 10-arrow setup (with +1 arrow on bow too) and this is way better than the maloney´s quiver. Trust me on that...


Watcher´s eye:

I think this combination it the best, because running Malevolence AND Haste aura feels so damn great. And the "perma onslaught" buff from watcher´s eye is extra 20% movement & attack speed. (last league I used malevolance + 12% attack speed while precision lvl 1 watcher´s eye)

But with my current setup I have buffed ~4.3 attacks per second with 10 arrows each attack = 43 pods (+17 pods from mirage archer support gem) per second with super nice overlapping explosions.

AND the best is, I don´t have any mana-sustain problems! Read more in the ring section...

Don´t waste much currency on a watcher´s eye with "malevolence damage over time multi" PLUS "non-channeling skills have -10 to total mana costs while effected by clarity". Read more in the "ring" section...


Ring:

After 600 hrs on the toxic rain chars, this is the best ring option in my opinion. Nice all resists, 60 life on hit (with 43 own arrows per second & 0.4 x 43 from mirrage archer = instant full life again...). You can even facetank metamorph bosses with so much life on hit :-))))

But the very best mechanic is the 30 mana on hit... super nice! no mana problems on this build, & no wasted skill points for mana leech. You really don´t need rings with "increased chaos damage". Trust me on that...



Amulet:

Since toxic rain gem benefits very much from gem levels, the new +1 to all chaos skill gems / dexterity skill gems on amulets with "chaos Damage over time multiplier" is the greatest option for much damage.

Also very nice is "malevolence reserved reduced mana" roll. This results in free mana for "aspect of the spider" when you run all auras with level 4 enlighten gem. Super juicy damage...



My thoughts:
I can´t stress enough how nice the "Thief´s Torment" ring setup feels.
I can easily sustain my mana with 4.3 attacks per second with 2x 50% reserve auras (malevolence & haste + enlighted 4 gem).
Haste aura feels super nice in maps = zoom zoom movement speed :-)
No need for "non-chanelling skills have -X mana costs" crafts on rings and amulet = 3 free prefix slots.

My thoughts to poe ninja rankings... Don´t mind the "top DPS" toxic rain chars... They use concentrated effect instead of "mirrage archer", but trust me, mirrage archer is still super nice and you get "free" 40% extra pods and free arrows = more life on hit :-))))

I like to use withering steps in maps (to inflict a few wither stacks on enemies - feels super nice in mapping with a solid radius due to i.e. carcass jack AoE bonus - I only use the wither totems at sirius fight or uber elder... no need in other situations for the totems...
I like to use a Vaal Grace setup with increased duration - the vaal effect is my "panic button" for 34% extra dodge chance for 14 seconds - this is the duration for most boss fights / boss phases. feels super nice...

My gear is far from perfect, and there is always room to improve. I hope I could give you some useful thoughts and please don´t waste much currency for mediocre gear....

Some additional information on the new influenced rolls:
The pods (DoT) don´t inflict "culling strike", only the arrows do...

After all I enjoy the build very much and TY for your nice guide.

Just popping in to share my very strange gear setup. I got a decent quiver in less than 100 alterations, and I "made" my own Hands of the High Templar so I thought I'd try and work out a way to use them. Seems like a decent setup if a bit weird.

What is unusual about his setup? It seems pretty much 1:1 with the build guide other than deciding to use a Theif's Torment which is IMO a terrible choice.

You lose out on 2 STR rolls for Steelskin+CWDT, no ES/Life rolls, extremely low resists overall seeing as you only get 1 rng. With -mana cost rings I have infinite mana other than on no-regen maps. You should basically never be getting hit on this build either, making the life gain on hit essentially worthless in my opinion.

but if you are using a thiefs torment you aren't gaining free prefixes, you are losing an entire ring slot (+There is no -mana cost to non-channeling skills on amulets) so I honestly have no idea what he is trying to say here.

Using haste is also a poor choice in my opinion even with that haste Watcher's Eye. Completely dropping discipline and grace for mediocre move + attack speed and onslaught which you can get in several places is strange. The onslaught won't even be active on single target bosses anyways)

Sirus is pretty easy on this build either way, but this seems like a straight downgrade to me.

It all comes down to preference though.

If I have a magic thicket bow with just generic dot multi on it, what's the best way to proceed? Regal and pray for attack speed, and beastcraft away if I hit a prefix? Dot multi doesn't seem to want to come up often.

See my character Odogahn for my current bow and my first stash tab for the crafting project.

Yep, thief's torment and carcass jack are pretty commonly used swaps, but I agree with you sacrificing a whole ring slot for a non-customizable unique, so practically 1,5 ring slots feels like an odd choice for an end-game setup.

A lot of people like levelling with thief's torment and quill rain, but after that... not sure.

Also -mana cost allows to shoot more before arrows actually land and hit something (unless you have a lot of projectile speed and don't notice the delay).

I'm pretty sure there is, it's exactly the same mod you can craft on rings. The old Elreon's mod.

If you meant the temple mod that is found on rings and not the crafted one, then yeah, I think that one only goes on rings.

One thing that I agree with him though is that rare quiver especially with double dot mod (damage over time multiplier + chaos damage over time multiplier) and possibly high life / attack speed is worth more than maloney's.

Not sure if extra arrows are worth to fish for, since the agreement so far was extra arrows increase your clear but don't actually increase overlap on bosses, the only thing that does is increased area of effect(and increased skill effect duration indirectly).

You're doing pretty good, the next steps, in no particular order:

- Level 21 Toxic Rain. I'd pick one up off the market to use until yours levels, if yours corrupts to 21, sell one of them.
- Clarity is only supposed to be level 1. Toss that one in your secondary weapon set, level it out and sell it. In the meanwhile, buy another level 1, and don't level it.
- Gloves. Projectile Attack Damage, as in, Gripped Gloves, doesn't scale the pods. Grab a set with attack speed and CDoT Multiplier.
- Flasks. Craft a 90+ percent Ev Jade, yours is bottom of the barrel. Quality all your flasks. An anti-curse flask would be awfully nice, too.
- Watcher's Eye. Get one with anti-bleed with Malevolence, then you can ditch the bleed flask.

As for order, I'd do them in cost order. Several of those are going to be cheap!
