Iron Grip
the description of iron grip said "The increase to Physical Damage from Strength applies to Projectile attacks as well as Melee attacks" this % bonus dmg applies to weapons base dmg and weapon bonus dmg mods, or also apply on set bonus dmg?
another question is this "physical dmg from strength" that gives Iron grip boost the convert dmg in skills like lightning arrow/lightning strike (converts 50% of physical dmg into lightning dmg)? because Melee physical dmg only work in one part of the dmg of this skills and doenst convert into lighntning (if i grab a %physical dmg node this will boost the 50% physical of the skill and the 50% that converts into lightning, compared to melee physical dmg that only works with the 50% physical?) waiting for some responds on this, correct me if im wrong in something and sorry for my poor english haha Last edited by Antharaz on Feb 16, 2013, 1:02:20 AM

just the physical boost from str.

why does this not work with ethereal knives?
nvm got it. "projectile attacks" not "projectile spells" Last edited by ighnaz on Feb 20, 2013, 7:16:46 AM

What is the logic behind Iron Grip not affecting physical damage from off weapon sources? Weapon Elemental Damage nodes and the gem both affect off weapon damage, despite 'weapon' being right there in the name.
|
|
because weapon is used for the attack and the added element from gears applies to weapon damage?
| |
Then why wouldn't physical damage from off weapon sources be affected by Iron Grip? The damage is being added to the projectile and Iron Grip says it adds the physical damage bonus to melee attacks to projectile attacks, so it should stand to reason that Iron Grip should affect all physical damage in the projectile, not exclusively the on weapon damage. It's weird and unintuitive that elemental damage from off weapon sources is treated differently from physical damage from off weapon sources.

"This is a holdover from previous design of the damage system, and will be changed in an upcoming refactor of damage stats, bringing consistency by making physical added damage from non-weapon sources function just like elemental damage does.
" Very much looking forward to this fix, hopefully it's not too far out =)
Is there anyone at all using IG in its current state?
Can you stack enough Strength to justify using IG over Weapon Elemental Damage, Life Leech/Life on Hit, Reduced Mana, Item Rarity or Fire Damage?
"thats not the reason nobody uses it. most people that wanted iron grip, had skill points to spare and gotten the skill tree keystone version (which does EXACT same thing as gem but without the speed and level ups). |
