Thanks for the guide. I was just wondering if this could be a viable build for a Two Handed Mace with a little tweak? Planning to RP as a warrior priest from Warhammer in the next league.

Yeah could be. The switch is really easy tbh. You drop sword nodes and take nodes like Galvanic hammer, pain forger, Titanic Impacts, Bludgeon Blitz. The only issue is getting a good weapon. You could start off with a brain rattler, but eventually you want a high pdps coronal maul.

Would you recommend this build for a somewhat of a "new" player?

I've tried PoE on and off but never got to maps or anything.

I've usually started late in a League and didn't want to keep going in one since it would be over soon.

Since this one is somewhat new in it's season I wanted to give the game a go again and give it a try to get to maps.

It seems with 3.9 not many people are making melee builds with the boss buffs and whatnot but it's what I enjoy playing most. And the theme of a Templar is just more interesting to me than most others.

So I was wondering if you believe this would be a good complete new starter build for a player like myself.

I like melee/tanky builds with a "cool" and fun attack skill.

Would this be an enjoyable build to play, mostly for fun. I'm not looking to hardcore farm or anything, or would it be a little too "1-note"? And would it even be viable and somewhat "easy" to level with as a relatively new player?

Hello there, I'm not the one that created the guide, but I'm doing a somewhat similar build and can give you some advise.

For this question it depends on how much of a tank do you expect to be? Can it take on some of the heavy hitters in the game without dodging? No, this is the wrong ascendancy for that, Inquisitors trade sustain and tankyness for critical strike chance and elemental damage. While glass cannons this builds aren't, like some raiders and assassins, this class can't get to the level of many Marauder and Duelist builds (you could even add some of the energy shield/MoM builds out there).

The skill has plenty of damage and the high mobility aspect of CPath makes for an agile build. So, that would be a definitive yes while mapping. The problem comes with some of the heavy hitters in the game, melee skills and the new changes to the game, standing still leads to dying and that can take away some of the fun of the game. Experienced players have a better idea on when and how to move depending on the boss, and the thrill of those last second moves can add to the fun. But that can also lead to RIPs.

Fun and melee is as much of an eye of the beholder thing as you can get in PoE.

I hope this helps you in making a decision. GLHF.

BMatrim pretty much said what I wanted to. The build has a lot of damage, its decently tanky. But in the current state of the game, melee is not ideal. You will get one shot by metamorphs, the awakener will be a big problem.

I don't recommend this to a new player, because you need a voidforge to reach the proper levels of damage. The build will take time and currency to take shape, and even then will likely struggle with metamorphs and the awakener, I imagine.

You could get enough upgrades to make it work, but it will take time to get there and idk how much time you want to spend on a character and what your goals are.

Oh and levelling will kinda suck.

Seems alot of fun with that damage. But as some previous already mentioned, it looks like a glass cannon with no phys/elemental damage medigations. I feel that alot of 1-shots comes along, sadly.

I wouldn't say 'no phys/elemental damage medigations'. Augury of Penitence gives you some elemental mitigation and with around 9k armor and 1k molten shell on cdwt, it's something. But yes, this is not a tanky build. Sadly I can't really confirm how glass cannon-y it is against metamorphs since I don't have this character in league right now.

Hey, trying out your build as ive been looking for something consecrated path, love that skill.

Anyway, Im currently level 69 and have been using a terminus est as a main weapon since 51, what I immediately realized is that dps wise it outperforms the voidforge by a lot, like 90k dps according to PoB

What im wondering is if I maybe missed something? Will the voidforge become the better weapon the more points i allocate and gear pieces i get? Im still not fully geared, obviously, but Im just making sure I didnt miss anything due to the huge dps change when switching away the Voidforge.

Cheers!
