[3.5] CheeQu's CoC Ice Nova Assassin - Up to 7m Shaper DPS + Amazing Clearspeed [In-Depth Guide]
" I've wondered the same. During the last two patches each Frost Bolt I shot use to always explode into an Ice Nova. Now-a-days it seems to shoot out Frost Bolts everywhere without them exploding making most of the damage come from Frost Bolt's instead of Ice Nova. I started this league with this character; while it worked out great it still didn't do anywhere near the damage it use to do. I have always thought that it was because of the Frost Bolt explosions being nerfed by adding more cooldown time. I don't know of any databases that have the cooldown time to do any updating the build(not that it is mine anyway, I meant to improve the build). " So, yesterday I did a Red Elder with it. Since I haven't done one in quite a while I needed a bit to get used to the fight but on my 2nd Attempt (New Map) I did it entirely Deathless. The Damage overall was okay but really nothing special. The only things that would increase my damage going forward would be: 1. Jewels with 2x +crit multi 2. More dmg on gear (Belt with increased damage etc.) 3. Getting my 17-19/20 gems to 21/20 But these 3 aspects shouldn't make a difference of multiple millions in dps. (Also I need to 6L my chest)
" Your character is a mess, 1. You do not have a 6L, you are missing a lot of crit. 2. Your Crit chance is 38%, with a build that is based on crit it is impossible to do any damage with it 3. Your Flasks are wrong, get the diamong flask enchant of crit, get a Wise Oak. 4. Your jewels are shit, the abyss ones add no extra damage and the other ones have only 1 damage mod? 5. Your ring enchant does nothing, elemental damage with attack skills doesn't add any damage to this build. 6. You need new rings, mark of the shaper is not that expensive And yeah all those things adds to million DPS. This is your current damage with flasks active of each ice nova: this is one of a geared character: multiply that for each nova you cast, 6APS from cyclone, double the novas for each frostbolt... that a lot of novas.
Threw character together over the past day. Still a lot of crafting to be done to get better ammy/ring /jewels and a new watchers eye. To say bosses melt at the moment is quite an understatement. Hopefully be finished gearing over the coming days and see what kind of numbers I can squeeze out. |

" Can you post PoB plus a video? I have no idea how come I couldn't get every Frostbolt to explode to an Ice Nova like before Legion. |

Can you post PoB plus a video? I have no idea how come I couldn't get every Frostbolt to explode to an Ice Nova like before Legion. it's prob because your arcane surge is to high a level only need like 5-6 level for it to work cause other wise use to much mana to cast... n that char is definetly messed up.... think you need to start over n actually read the guide n get the right gear just saying.....good luck IGN ARROWUPYOURAZZ

I feel like I'm pretty well geared at this point. Not full Gucci but..
Can anyone take a peek and see why my dmg in POB isn't listed higher? https://pastebin.com/A6Hu75UU Post above has an avg Ice Nova of 666k, and I can't for the life of me change the settings, or add gear to get there. Side note; currently running Ice Nova/Frostbolt in both armor and weap. Thanks
" The guy who posted 666k ice nova damage is running a build that is worth hundreds of ex. It's just a humblebrag. As for your build: - Your cyclone is clocking at 9.19 attacks per second. This is way too high and should drop to below 7.5 to optimally proc cast on crit. Otherwise you are missing out on consistent damage, which adds up to a lot. I'd get rid of Apocalypse Eye, as it's adding to attack speed and has some crit chance. It's mainly also due to the onslaught flask, which you do not need, as even without it you are > 7.5 attacks per second. - Your helmet is missing a suitable enchantment. 40% Ice nova damage is ideal, but super expensive. You can also run one that modifies an aura, for example. - Your gauntlets can be optimized by crafting "damage while leeching" and "damage during flask effect". This can be achieved by basically rolling gloves with the "increased damage with his against chilled enemies" mod and then crafting the rest of the mods on them. This is pretty expensive. You could yolo annul your current gloves too, and hope that a prefix will poof. After that you can get "suffixes cannot be changed", and annul the prefixes, etc. - You are not running a watcher's eye that modifies hatred or zealotry (e.g. "damage penetrates ..." or "adds x to y cold damage when affected by...", and you are not running either of these gems. Herald of Ice only adds a relatively minor amount of damage. - Your abyssal gem, ancient sight, adds fire damage, which is pointless as you are not running yoke of suffering. - You are not running Militant Faith (for extra area damage) or glorious vanity (for tons of energy shield, to free up nodes for extra damage) - You're not running a vortex setup, which is basically free dps. Ideally, you'd link vortex with unbound ailments, bonechill and arcane surge. You can pretty much ensure a constant uptime by doing so. - You're running enfeeble, which has only 20% effect against shaper. You're also running 2 aura's with blasphemy. Your maximum curse limit is one, so that won't work. - You selected "have you killed recently", and selected both "have you crit recently" and "have you dealt a non-crit recently", which is unrealistic. Instead, it's more realistic to select "is there only one nearby enemy" if you are talking about shaper dps. - You're running precision lvl 1 with 100% hit chance even before slotting it, which is basically pointless. I've adjusted your build: - added multicraft on boots for some resistances - added my own timeless jewel (simulated in PoB). Note that this means mind over matter and arcanist's domination have no effect (hence the reductions I put in the gem). It adds a ton of survivability (2k es due to corrupted soul at the mind over matter slot - you do not actually have mind over matter, but PoB cannot handle the new jewels yet) and damage - This freed up some slots for quick recovery. Not really needed anymore and was changed due to the timeless jewel, so I put the remaining 2 points into frost walker. - changed aura's to hatred - enlighten - zealotry - precision - added a 15% reduced mana reserved enchant to your helm, which is not that unrealistic to farm or buy - modified your ancient sight abyssal jewel to do cold damage (basically, get a new similar jewel, a hypnotic eye one) - removed the onslaught flask and added atziri's promise - Removed unnatural instinct as it added a ton of attack speed and not much dps. It wasn't doing a lot. Sorry. This frees up a ton of points, which have to be spend to get a bit more attack speed and damage, which is what the precision tree does. - Grabbed mind drinker. It's nice. - Changed Sol Desire to have lightning resistance so you can get rid of Alira and grab 2 extra nodes, which amounts to the 113 you had in your PoB (there were 2 nodes too many). - Added "shock enemies for 4 seconds when you focus" on your ring, instead of the shatter stuff. Note that PoB cannot count this, but it is basically an extra 20% dps for a limited duration that you need to manually activate. - To get more int, I had to remove the might of the meek stuff too, and went up left, which also added a lot more dps. - Had to change cold resist on gloves to lightning resist and had to add some strength and some crit chance to to sol desire ;-). Goals! All this pushes your dps to 2742278,995, excluding shock and excluding frenzy charges, with 7.1k effective hp. Poacher's mark requires you to kill enemies, which is unrealistic during the shaper or uber elder fight. Your previous dps was 2071516,68 without frenzy charges, without the 2 erroneous nodes (removed lethal assault), and with 6k effective hp. There's a lot more you can do. Mainly craft a 6 link armor with "spells have +x% chance to crit", and some more stuff that I listed (e.g. other gloves). Also, get one of those watcher's eyes. Myself I'm running discipline with energy shield gain on hit as well, which greatly helps with survivability, but getting one which also has a hatred mod is expensive. The pathing to Constitution is also pretty lengthy, but it adds 500+ effective hp, so I left it in. You can free it up for even more dps. https://pastebin.com/ApDPV913 Last edited by grindst0ne on Aug 7, 2019, 4:11:24 PM

Spoiler
" @grindst0ne; Thanks a lot man! I feel bad I didn't look closely at PoB before linking it as I had some upgrades in there. The fire jewel was already gone f.e. I have put probably 20ex into it (not counting what I've spent so far trying to get CDR boots... ffs whyyyy can't they just roll good), so I didn't really have trouble with any of the content. However getting that extra (and getting rid of some stupid stuff) is really helpful. It will be the final build so might as well dump everything into this one. Have some reworking to do. At least I wasn't missing any PoB settings I suppose.
Just recently switched over to 2 Meeks and Unnatural Instinct, however feels like my damage should be at least double to what I'm currently doing. Wondering if someone is able to take a look at my build and see where I've gone wrong.
https://pastebin.com/B317ySzm I know there's some obvious improvements one would notice right off such as getting 20% quality on gems, and helm enchant. However feels like I'm missing a ton of damage somewhere. My cyclone attack is at 7.49. Thank you. |
