[3.6] The Blizz Sorc - Icestorm/Winter Orb CI Occultist - Viable For Everything

Patch notes are up, and all I can say is: HOLY SHIT!!! This build is getting a number of buffs, some of which look just awesome. If I read it right, we are going to be doing more damage, have an easier to obtain ES leech (and possibly extra regen too), be even safer than before, have more skill points to blow on all that fancy new stuff...

Now I really hope that the PoB dev can update it with the new tree soon. The tree is getting massive changes, obviously.

ES leech. This is the biggest change. VP will no longer do anything for ES leech, so we no longer need the entire south branch of the tree. That's a lot of skill points to re-allocate. GR will do everything VP previously did. However, the leech cap is only half of what it was with VP. But there are some new ways to raise it on the tree. And new sources of ES leech that may or may not let us replace the LL gem.

I'm no expert, but have been looking at this build for next league. Is it just me, or does not needing VP mean also not needing all those Fertile Minds, since we no longer need that path at all?

if you want to see tree changes
http://poeskilltree.com/compare/3.6.0/

First of all, with new leech mechs occultist is tankier then even.

Now we have 3 area offect buff nodes
4 increased spell damage and block chance nodes
All cold damage right to witch area now also gives crit chance
3 new stuns defense and spell damage nodes now immune to stun

And still orb of storm is more then enough to trigger EO so we can keep using cd at least on bosses

Also IceStrom got buffed!!!! LOL
%6 crit chance (up from %5)
.75sec cast time down from 1 sec again LOL

AND MOST importantly we dont need vaal pact so we can save at least 15 points for these new staff and area effect nodes.
This is insane

Every part of this build got buffed.
I wont be surprised if Kelvynn will double damage.
wtf
LOL

Yes. We won't need them anymore.
Lol afraids are gone. So many buffs for this build :D

If I'm reading the new nodes correctly, taking the ES leech clusters, we will have around 30% ES leech per second max (10% base, doubled by Ghost reaver, and 50% increased from passive tree nodes). This is down from 40% with Vaal Pact. So it's quite a nerf on our overall sustain. The flip side, is that there is PLENTY of ES base leech that we will be getting (quick count shows around 1.7%) so no curses, life leech gem, or vitality aura needed to max leech.

You'll likely want to hunt for ES Recovery Rate Watcher's eyes... as well as use the Soul of Arakaali for the extra 50% boost.

For almost all content you probably won't notice the lower leech rate, but you may when pushing Uber Elder, or something similar, unless you have a truly obscene amount of total ES.

TLDR: Cons: ES recovery took a hit, but not a "horrible" one.
Pros: No more need for life leech gem, vitality aura (watcher's eye), or
Warlord's mark.

Pro or Con, depending on how you want to look at it..... The tree will need to be seriously worked over and tweaked as there are a few more "mandatory" nodes and a the entire bottom half of the tree is now open for reallocation.

I would say that considering that we are not using VP anymore, we can expect ZO as standard, and of course we are going to use consecrated grounds in that case. So even if we don't have any regeneration, it still already have us 36%, isn't it?
Plus, regen will make blood rage much easier to use.
Right now, i don't really see it as "sustain nerf", just need some rearrangement, but i believe that it can be only stronger than before.

At least we are first time in patch notes with wi :-)

and i am really happy to play wi again.

since i play wi i have all leagues the 36 challenges goal reached. Only
uber elder i cant beat. perhaps next league with the buffs i can reach that also.

its not only the build i like, its also kelvynns effort to get the best out of the build AND the community who use that build. There is always someone who anwer the questions i have and there is mostly a really familiar conversation in this thread. And also ingame there are mostly peoples who are willing to help each other.

Thats the really fun with that build and the community who use it.

Thanks a lot for that. It makes poe a really enjoying experience.
Wow is all I can say to the buffs coming in for this build. I played it last league for some AFK boss killing and downed Shaper at level 73 but this league is going to be even more crazy, can't wait to faceroll bosses even more.
Also some side effect from dropping VP - we can spend more points for the life and damage passives (and respec them later) meaning better untwinked leveling.
