The levelling guide is actually for the base build. So you can follow it completely and it will take you to maps.

The spectre summmoner has 4 parts in its life.
Part 1 is Act 1 to Act 3. You are a little weak and use Skeletons to kill things. Zombies are your meatshield, but they will die a lot.
Part 2 is when you get your Raise Spectre gem, you can start using fire spectres, they are not super strong.
Part 3 is when you get to Act 5 and get the recommended spectre. After this, the rest of levelling is easy.
Part 4 is when you reach maps and just push for endgame.

You can keep with the Base build completely. Maybe people do. The build options are similar to the base build, but they each use an expensive unique to change the character.

KoaS is skelies and zombies build, Kay's build is spectre, hard to compare. It depend on league, gears, playstyle ...

As a new player, I think I'm going to follow the base build with your excellent advises for leveling and equipment.

Hey kayella thanks for the guide.

I am actually planning to play animate weapon but I might league start with your leveling guide and recommend others to do the same. The tree is very close to many versions of that build, and has pretty good gear overlap. I've not actually done spectres myself so there is also lots of valuable information here for that and will probably be looking here during the league.

Isn't the changes to Feeding Frenzy another flat dmg loss as it no longer gives more dmg to supported minions?

are you sure you want to level with spectre? they are squishy as hell in boss fights while leveling o.o even with minion life gem.

I just use it on the support minions now. They proc the buff that goes to all minions.

Yes but minions aren't aggressive without feeding frenzy in link?
That would reduce clear speed quite some i guess.

I find that taking Indomitable Army and the minions life and regen next to Death Attunement helps a lot. Dominus fight is a bit dangerous, though. The adds can kill the spectres, but Dominus himself isn't a problem. Once you get SDs, everything melts.

I guess you could level with something else...
