That's right. Vics + NA is a big boost, but you lose a lot of defense. High end builds in Harvest league used +2/+2 crafted shield.

If you don't mind suddenly die from one shot, then it's good. I don't really recommend it though!

You need to tick some options in Configuration. The buffs and debuffs make a big difference to DPS in POE. Also check if auras are ticked in Skills.

how do you upgrade from the base build?
I am at 5 spectres now, and using 1 large cluster.
should the second cluster or awak gems be my next goal?

I have question with Ghastly Eye Jewels:
"Taunt on Hit with Attacks"
"Blind on Hit with Attacks"

Because they only affected to Attacks so they become useless with only spell tag skills specs like Baranite Preacher, right?

So it could be a big disadvantage of spell tag skills spec compared to specs which have Attack tag skill (or have Attack & Spell tag skills)?

Use Raised Zombie . 9 of them can easily taunt and blind the boss.
if your AG use body armour with "Nearby enemies is blind" you can skip the blind jewel
When your spectres have enough dps to destroy boss in few seconds u dont need taunt anymore.

This build can carry you to level 100 and Sirus A8. But if you have currency and you play in the trade league, think about upgrading to Pure Spectres or Spectres & Spiders.

The easiest upgrade is the Pure Spectres build. I recommend upgrading in this order:
1. 4 spectres (Raise Spectre gem level 25)
2. Triad Grip gloves (4G sockets) + Syndicate Operative
3. Cluster Jewels
4. Devouring Diadem + reserve Haste aura
5. 5 spectres (6L delve body)
6. Awakened Dems
7. Thread of Hope
8. Unending Hunger*

Taunt and blind are always useful because you should have at least one melee minion: AG, stone golem, carrion golem, zombie, skeleton.

Taunt is the most important because the melee minion will pull agro and reduce monster's damage against you and other minions.

The spell tag mod is hinder (reduce movement speed) is not really useful.
