I'm experimenting running them with spiders and while their clear seems meh on their own they seem to have sick single target damage

Edit: they're easy to get (in i think repository? the robot one) but if anyone wants them I can share too

not my PoB but i think balormage has one on his youtube video. my setup is basically the same except i take avatar of fire for more reliable EE and i use a life gain on block shield. basically the rest is the same

So, right now i'm playing starter build with 4 SD (cant afford +1 specter chest yet). Clear is decent and boss damage is amazing. I'm transitioning into yellow maps.

Are SO any better on the starter build configuration or should i just stick with SDs (my main issue with them is that they fall behind a lot and have average range on their spell, so i have to run-convo-run-convo a lot)?

SO are better in every single metric:

Much bigger clear, their attack/spell can clear up to 2 screens away

Single-target is insane due to their projectiles shotgunning, which means no need to gem swap because GMP ends up being a DPS increase in single target as well

Great HP pool

Only issue that they have is that they have to be at a specific distance from a target for shotgunning to work properly (can't be in melee range), which can feel a bit clunky until you get it right - other than that, SO's are the hands-down better choice over SD's

What are the recommended uniqs and cluster jewels for Operatives?

Also what’s the best way to raise them? I failed miserably last time I tried lol
