What kind of adjustments do I need to make to switch from a Diadem to a +3 minion gem helm?

I`m currently working in the min-max build, I'd like to share the improvements that I did in order (better dps improvement to moderate dps improvement):

1st - Shield and starting using Necromance Aegis.


2nd - Armor With Offering increase effect


3rd - Wand with Hatred increase effect


I never played before as a Necromancer, I have to say that Kay's guide is really one of the best guide in this forum, was easy to follow and later I did my personal tweaks (I like to test things :) ) , thanks for the amazing job.

I think my big mistake is 'Pure Spectres' build is 100% DPS glass cannon. I have played my build for a long time so glass cannon is fine for me. Especially my videos show me running through packs and playing unsafe way. :P

But I realised that new people trying my build for first time need more balance for DPS and tankiness. Especially because Base Build is super tanky. It's a big jump and nothing in the middle.

I'll update the guide for it! But you can change a few things really easily:

1. Mistress of Sacrifice + Bone Offering in trigger wand
2. Life recovery shield
3. Rumi' Concoction

life recovery is life suffix (yellow seed craft)

4. Take MOM and craft 10% ES on body armour.
5. Double recovery shield

ES recovery is defense suffix (blue seed craft)

Hi Kay`s , this league was first time that I tried Necromancer, I have to say that I was playing "almost" using this kind of setup that you are suggesting, shield with life on block, Bone Offering and Glancing Blows.

I have 0 issues with survivability, I did deathless (Sirius8, All Guardians, etc) (I just did a change today on my gear, moving to a DPS Shield + Necromance Aegis and New wand - I`m starting my tests now)

I`m sure that for someone that is starting playing as a summoner, defensive is the best way to start and move to a more offensive way once he gets more comfortable.

Quick input for people thinking about trying this build. I tried both league starter (with redemption sentry and slave driver) and the pure spectre build. Invested over 30ex into both. The league starter is the clear winner in terms of overall play enjoyment. Pure spectre is far too fragile. Yes the dps is far greater but you will die at the drop of a hat if you arent EXTREMELY careful. If you are a min max hardcore player, pure spectre's is better. But if you just want to do quick mapping easy mode without much effort and not worry about dying, use the starter build.

Hi, i'm still using the basic build, after searching POE trade, i found that it will take me one couple of exalted to get the best gear available. I wonder is it better to skip the maximizing of basic build and jump to the pure spectre build. A build costing exalted is too terrifying to commit as it takes a ton of time to farm even an exalted for me.

Also, for the +1 spectre chest, what is a good base? Assassin's Garb? Astral Plate base is too expensive so that's out of the question.

I'm slowly moving towards the Pure Spectre build, after having played with the Starter Build up to T12 maps.

I recently switched to Redemption Sentries (I have 4), went for Diadem helm, etc etc.

Due to the modifications I made to my setup, I died a lot...

I can confirm that, as Kay and others said, leaving the tanky Starter build for a DPS oriented one can be... disorienting at first. I died so many times, lost almost a full level of experience.

Yes, for being a noob I'm happy: my RSs kill nearly everything on sight when I enter a zone. Yes, bosses die really fast even without gem swap (of course: I'm not in T16 maps yet!).

But... Kay actually stated in the first page that Pure Spectre build is DPS oriented and a bit of a cannon glass, so it's not actually not your fault, milady!

We could actually use two different gear setups for each build, straight in the first page: one for DPS and one a bit more tanky, but if we spend a bit of time reading and following the forum, we learn and improve our knowledge. I, for one, am a way better player now thanks to this forum and players using these builds.

Now, a random question: I now have the proxy ring and one of my skitterbots is my mobile curser. Is the curse on hit on my gloves REALLY not useful now, and should I remove it asap, or does it work anyway? Like: is there a limit to the max amoount of curses on mobs?
For the time being, I don't want to mess with socket colors, yesterday has been a harsh day with colors for me, AHAHAHA! I could use a Convocation gem in there, actually, instead of curses... Mmmm.
