For early game i would probably go crit strikes.
As for toughness: do not trust people who will tell you that trappers are tanky, they are not. Both miners and trappers are squishy as fuck and really hard to go over 5k life. Even with acros you get hit and can die. Surrounded by snakes and you die. Porcupines explode and you die. Not every time of cause, but it can happen a lot. It's a dangerous squishy build, but also has silly firepower now. Bosses die in 1 second.

Yep, I am playing HC so I can't afford to die on anything. ATM I am debating which life nodes to head to on the left side. There is constitution but that's for a 95+ level to one get there and fill out most of the nodes. The other 2 options I have that can be done within 90 is left and up to purity of flesh and grab the life/chaos% nodes, or just head directly left and grab the ele%/str to grab the Devotion node.

I Am thinking at the moment the devotion route helps with str stat, some more life, and also a close jewel socket. I can do that within 84-85, then spend the next levels to 90 to pick up 2-3 jewel nodes and I am pretty much done. I can't spec into throatseeker if I want to do this though.

Would it be worthwhile to spec out of Chain reaction to Born? I am pyro > crime > chain atm but I am hearing bad things about chain.

Yeah i would definitely take Born for mercy lan on HC.
Another thing for HC: would prolly drop a lot of crit chance and go to fat life wheel node. This is the only way to get over 6k life.

I am heading to the devotion area 20% more HP, more strength for my totem and some ele dmg/ares. The only option that has more life is obviously the massive wheel at the bottom but I'll need minimum 95-96 to make that worth the travel and I will have no room for sockets.
I think if I refine my gear, take this extra 20% then I will be around 5-5.2kish. I am using deerstalkers at the moment so I had to drop about 50 max life, but my clear speed is much better. Currently 81, will be back at it later. I am never going to have shims so I will be 1h+shield but I am using whirling blades at the moment, with phase run and deerstalkers I just use WB as an "uh oh" movement.

How scary is it to do uber lab with this? Better to pay for one or do it?

will do uber atziri when i buy the frags. Uber Elder requires some time as my atlas is greatly reshaped and i am at 12/15
