Thank you dariidar. I'm extremely hyped. I usually just follow the build from a popular streamer, but I feel like for this league I'm going to do it myself. Or at least, should I say follow your guide. I'm very excited.

How is the availability of poet's pen in the start of the leagues? Should I save up chaos orbs and buy one ASAP?

I see that ball lightning got buffed too. So in essence, we'll get a buff to single target dmg too, right?

Personally I wouldn't buy poet's pen asap. I would buy Inpulsa's first. See the leveling guide for info on priority of item upgrades.

FYI, the relative prices of items on day 1, Bestiary Flashback Softcore was - Poet's Pen ~30 chaos, Inpulsa ~70 chaos. By the end of week 1, Inpulsa dropped to about 20c. On the other hand, by the end of week 1 Poet's Pen continued to rise to about 45c if I remember correctly.

However, I think that Inpulsa's is far more important for clearspeed than 2x Poet's Pens. If you can get an early inpulsa then your farm speed will accelerate extremely fast, even if you're just wielding dual Axiom Perpetuum. On the other hand, if you have 2 early poet's pens, they feel kind of lackluster without the Inpulsa.

Therefore my strategy would be: get Inpulsa first so you can farm really fast. Then use that increased farm speed to acquire poet's pens.

70c seems really daunting at league start, but if you do chaos recipe EFFICIENTLY and get to maps early, and know how to sell leveling gear & maps, you could easily make 70c in 5-10 hours of mapping on day 1. And if you find mid-tier uniques (even things like Axiom Perpetuum, Brightbeak, Karui Ward) then you can usually sell those for ~3 chaos on the first weekend, significantly decreasing that farming time.

Awesome. Sooo hyped, thanks for the guide!

Oh, didnt see that.

Assuming a base shock of 20% inc damage taken vs bosses. Subtract 20% inc shock effect from the skilltree. 0.2 * 0.2 = 0.04. We lose 4% of our damage.

God, I'm so stupid. I've read the patch notes line like 20 times, and still thought they were removing the "shocks from your hits always increase damage taken by 20%" - which would be a huge change. Just now looking at your post I realized the change has nothing to do with that part.

So yeah, you're right, it's not a significant change. I was looking at the wrong line.

Build seems pretty cool, btw. I'm a bit afraid that GGG will stealth-nerf Poet's Pen droprate to a point where it becomes waaay more difficult to buy, but if this doesn't happen I'll probably play this build.

Regarding Enki's Arc Witch and this build: if you get Inpulsa first, the socket colors we use are quite different than the ones for an Arc witch build. Would you just run the socket colors that Enki has and then recolor after getting 2x PP?
Any chance we can get ascendant leveling guide before league starts tomorrow?? PLEASEEEEEEE i would love you forevvvverrr!!!

Wait, did i miss anything? I'm using 4 normal pens... do I need to use corrupted pen with elemental proliferation? I'm kinda new in the game and still don't fully understand the mechanics of the gems in this game. I thought we covered that with beacon of ruin.

As for elemental Hit instead of barrage, I saw that they are buffing elemental hit and it will hit really hard, on top it will have 49% chance to shock, 20% increased elem damage and more.

you can see the gem changes here: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2150625

it might give us more damage instead of barage that is doing zero damage. The question is will it be as effective as barrage when it comes down to healing (life on hit)?

Looking forward to using this build for the start of the league today. Just not sure on whether to go with Witch or Scion. Anyone going Scion this league and why?
did they remove the "elemental prolif" corruption for wands?
was browsing reddit and found a thread about the "new" vaal orb corruptions...

For the most part, yes. Aim for Arc - echo - add lightning - lightning pen - (inc crit strikes) for your inpulsa, then recolor once you get 2x poet's pen.

Sorry, won't be writing up a Scion version.

Note that the scion version will be more difficult to start with because there are fewer spell damage nodes in her beginning skilltree.

Ele prolif would give you like 10-20% faster clearspeed, but if you don't have an ele prolif wand you can substitute with Vinktar flask.

Scion requires a little bit more setup so I would prefer witch because it just works right away.

Elemental proliferation will boost your clearspeed a bit. If you don't have that on your Arc pen, then you can substitute with a Vessel of Vinktar.

Doesn't matter how strong they make elemental hit; our accuracy is shit (~85% WITH the additional accuracy support) and it's not worth investing further into it. The potential damage is miniscule compared to what you will get from arc and ball lightning.
