Oni-Goroshi in Current League - are You gonna farm it or drop it?

Sad Note: The OG sword grind will end come PoE 2. Even if GGG keeps UH in and gives us a 6L skill gem as the reward with so many skills I can see GGG foobar'ing it completely by RNG dropping a 6L skill gem and heavily weighting it to drop rarely used skills that suck to play. Grinding for a 6L skill gem just doesn't have the same impact as grinding for Charan's Sword. That's probably why Charan quit PoE so abruptly and dramatically had his main account wiped.

I dont think the 6L alone is a reason why this sword is a nice league starter weapon in SSF.

The fact that its damage (and thus the weapon based attack damage of skills) is scaled with player level makes it a good choice in comparison to spells or minions.

That will not change much with Path of Exile 4.0 (aka POE2).

I farmed 11 OGs and never reachd 9 lvl.

Personally, I've farmed 8 across 6 leagues ('cause I don't play every league).

I think once I got to level 9.

I like the sword because it's ideal for what it was meant for: It's a decent weapon. It's a 6L you can start with (much like the Tabula, although with stats), and it scales with you as you level.

I also play SSF. I mostly did SSF even before the mode got added as an official option, but since then, I don't think I've bothered to make any character that wasn't SSF. And no, I don't ever migrate them to the trade leagues either.

Same here. Once i tried trading, was not good experience but that was before official SSF mode.

Staying in close to keep UH from leaping and spawning his minions is easy with the changes in Legion League. He is a slow brute. Just circle strafe UH until dead. Only 1 Leap Slam at 10% health.


Shoot and move, shoot and move (rinse and repeat).

UH killed in 1 minute 25 seconds (not too shabby). Practice makes perfect. OG #22.
89% crit chance, also fantastic.

I have to wonder why the Syndicate would allow Hillock to be a member if he's that stupid as to never learn that he can't win any beach battles.

There's probably another build somewhere in here but what builds are people enjoying with oni-goroshi?

Looking at poeninja it seems like the vast majority play cyclone duellist or techtonic marauder, but neither are really gelling with me - I've played cyclone a LOT and techtonic isn't my favorite build.

Anyone got anything else they like playing with oni? I tend to like builds on the tankier side.

As a general cyclone fanboy, I honestly don't know a lot of other builds for Oni-Goroshi.
Then again, anything that can use a sword should work... Blade Flurry, Perforate, Bladestorm, Shattering Steel... Infernal Blow also used to be rather popular with it, though that might have to do with mathil having done it at some point. Heck, even viper strike could work (maybe quite nicely so if you use Volkuur's Guidance?).
If you're looking for a tanky build, then cleave could work, it's threshold jewel gives fortify on hit after all.
I think someone even used flicker with it back in the day, but I don't know how well that idea went.


On a completely unrelated note, I've been wondering today... is the dedicated Oni-Goroshi farming global chat channel still active? It's been a while since I last farmed for Oni-Goroshi, but if I were to do it again, I need something that keeps me from losing my mind. That channel was perfect for that.

I wouldn't recommend it. Oni Goroshi suffered from power creep and this league there are cheaps 6L everywhere.

I'd mostly do it just because. You're talking to one of the few people who crafted The Goddess Unleashed using the old recipe, simply because I wanted to have it (I still have it).

Got it about 10 mins after hitting level 7 on 4 chars, which took 4 or 5 hours. Seems I got lucky. I farmed another to corrupt with the remaining 3 chars which took another few hours, but I bricked it.
