[Guide] What a macro is allowed to do in Path of Exile
" GGG don't want macros to interact with the position of the mouse cursor in any way. It falls under the umbrella term of "partially automating gameplay". I'm working on something for the PoE community! 👀

I’m still looking over this guide periodically; I’ve not noticed anything that has become outdated.

Couldn't find an answer to this: would it be allowed to rebind mousewheel down to LMB on a mouse with no unlocked scrollwheel, meaning every single clicky movement of the scrollwheel corresponds to a single LMB input?

" That's an interesting one! I'd double-check by emailing support@grindinggear.com but my first thought would be yes, it should be allowed - it's essentially just simple key rebinding. It's hard to imagine a rule it'd violate. I'm working on something for the PoE community! 👀

" I contacted them, and was given essentially a non-answer: [Removed by Support] They restated their existing rule about no automation or multiple actions in one press/keystroke and said that due to their policy dynamics they can't confirm or deny whether a tool was allowed or disallowed, and that I should refrain from using tools that give an unfair advantage over other players. So I guess I won't be using mousewheel down as LMB after all, just in case. Last edited by Menchin#6093 on Jul 5, 2025, 7:53:08 PM

Huh, that's unfortunate - it sounds like either that specific employee isn't the most tech-savvy, or they simply misread your question. Regular keybinding is known to be fine, and typically they only have qualms about whether you're entering (partially) automated gameplay territory.
But, fair play - I wouldn't want to take any chances with my Path of Exile account, either. I'm working on something for the PoE community! 👀
