So I am level 84 doing this build.using Xanthrochroids tree.. So far its been relatively good.. Although there are a few kinks im working out at the moment. Firstly, I find MoM to be almost a detriment on this build.. I can't even count how many times ive run out of mana and I am just stuck basic attacking until i land a few hits to get a barrage/iceshot cast up again.. especially during boss fights, I am at 4.6K life and I know this probably isnt enough without MoM, and I can't really see any other ways to fix it.. but yeah MoM feels extremely clunky on this build IMO.
Another issue is accuracy, although I do not think its that much of an issue.. My chance to hit right now is 80% and thats with 300~ accuracy on my amulet, although because you are dishing out so many projectiles it may not be an issue at all.
For aura's I am running grace because this build really lacks defence, wrath is certainly a lot more damage but grace feels a lot smoother to use.
Currently have 9 abyssal jewels equipped with a 2 socket bubonic/lightpoacher, the jewels are not the best, certainly not all T1 lightning damage rolls, but the damage is still there. As long as I am not running out of mana or getting oneshot by something I can melt down basically anything in a few seconds.
It is very hard to get life on this build as you are using so many uniques. With life on all my abyssal jewels, 90~ life on my amulet, 90~ life on my belt, 60 on my quiver, I am sitting at 4.6k.. I considered dropping one of either bubonic/lightpoacher for a high life defensive option but I feel like I am losing too much damage dropping 2 abyssal jewels, when I get better ones this might change.
I tried running a cloak of defiance instead of a dendrobate, but as I said the MoM thing feels really bad to me, and I feel like I have more defence with a dendrobate.
So yeah those are my thoughts so far, I am only lvl 84, hoping to get another 10 levels of so then I will try shaper/guardians/uber atziri.
Here's what Sacro said about accuracy

I'm at a point where i want to grab my pair of volkuur's but im having a tough time deciding between lighting and fire. I know lighting is more damage but higher costs, and fire lower damage but lower costs.
is fire far enough behind lighting that even really matters though? are you still do everything lighting can do if you go fire? the cost difference is madness, i can grab fire gloves for 10-25c depending on rolls and lighting ones start at 50c and only go up from there. But i also dont want to feel like a gimped version of a good build

How far is the DPS between the fire and lightning version?
Also, can someone please link the PoB for the Fire Assassin build?
How much DPS will that build do? Is Kaoms a good chest over Dendrobate?

If anyone is following my Assassin build, I've finally decided on going Kaom's over Dendrobate. I solidly lose *some* dps, but both are so incredibly high that it doesn't even really matter whatsoever.
Jumping from 4.6k health 6.6k health absolutely does though.
Tree remains the same, just swap in Poison Support in place of Swift Affliction on your Barrage, and Poison in place of WED on your Ice Shot.
You will need 2 6l Quill Rains however, but this is actually significantly cheaper than getting a 6l dendrobate, because you can just chance/scour a 6l short bow (which can be bought for literally 6c from 'The Porcupine' Div Cards at 1c each.
Also decided to spec out of MoM, and all other mana nodes for more damage and life.
Final PoB: https://pastebin.com/L1f9Spr6
6.5k life, 10M+ shaper dps

If you're doing a fire variant of this build, I would recommend putting chance to ignite support in your ice shot setup and immolate in your barrage setup. It's a really big bump in damage.
Edit: Here's a revised version of my theorycraft build that uses Xanthochroid's upper tree path and immolate: https://pastebin.com/vwMfp2GC
Scrolled back and saw FreezardB's PoB link for the fire Volkurs, how come the total DPS is only at 2.7M as compared to the 12M++ of Xanthochroid's build?
Is the Fire variant that far off from the lightning variant?

For those of you chance/scouring a 6L short bow, how's it going? I'm currently at 317 attempts and still no luck.

Got 1 in 30 and 1 in 50.
It seems I stole your RNG.

Fire variant is solidly weaker, but still pretty overkill damage wise.
Here's a fire version I made for you:

6.6k life, 6.8M shaper DPS

Thanks for this! I'll make a character and start now. Is Immolate + Chance to Ignite better than any of the gems in this current setup?

Nope. The ailment/poison gems and WED I've selected provide far more damage than Immolate or CtI will with this tree and gear setup.
Just run this setup, and get tons of flat fire to attacks and bow attacks jewels and you should be good.
