How is ssf going for u guys/girls? ^^

Aaand another Rip. My Reave Bladeflurry Champion died to a Quad essence Monster with Immortal Aura
in a Elemental Weakness Vulnerability map.

I mean, I won´t say it wasn´t my own fault, but the character itself sucked.
This wouldn´t have happened on an actual strong build.

I am getting nowhere. I´m running out of items to build around, I´m running out of motivation, I´m running out of builds to try out. I might have to quit this game for 6 months again if this shit continues. I´m having no fun at all.

And the saddest thing is, I can´t reach the endgame. I know for a fact it´s not a player skill issue.
It´s not about my reactions it´s just the fact that I cannot build strong characters by myself.
And the build guides I´m following are mostly garbage and the few ones that do work I´ve played
so much that I can´t stand it anymore. I´m sick of it now ^^

"it´s not a player skill issue" and "I cannot build strong characters by myself" do bite themselves a little.

Have you considered that maybe hardcore is not for you?
I played mostly hardcore with my friends back when the game first launched, but now after almost 2 years break and back "alone" I do prefer the softcore variant a lot more.
Maybe when I know all the endgame encounters by heart I might try hc again but there are so many stupid things that can kill you, I dont think Ill change back again.
I can´t play softcore. It feels meaningless. And it breeds complacency.
It would make me a worse player and wouldn´t fix the issue of me not being able to build a strong character from scratch.

As far as the contradiction you´re seeing, it comes down to how you define player skill.
If player skill involves understanding mechanics and being able to theorycraft a strong character
that´s able to tackle all content in the game, in an SSF environment, then yes I don´t have that ability. Even though my personal opinion is that the vast majority of players can´t do that either.

I mentioned my reactions , so my definition of player skill involves being able to sidestep things
being able to maneuver your character correctly etcetera.
I´ve seen top players who stream that can´t play the game for shit, but are good theorycrafters.
This game is not about what you can do as a player. This game is only about how strong your character is. Which is why I stand and fall with the build guide I´m following.
Condolences, NoDisco.

Finally scraped together enough cold resist.

So far, so good, and I think the flavour text is apropos.

Looking forward to linking something nice, gearwise.

"Some blows must be evaded. Some blows must be endured. The trick is to tell them apart."
- Daresso, the Sword King

What an amazing quote. It almost makes me wonder if I should have skipped the Quad Essence Crab with Immortality Aura in an Ele Weakness Vulnerability Map.

Yeah that was my fault entirely, lol. Oneshot me too. I thought I kept him far enough away with my Lions Roar knockback but the AOE was bigger than anticipated. It´s honestly fine, I didn´t like the character anyways. I just need to find the motivation to re-roll. Or continuing the GC miner I have even though I don´t like the playstyle.

Ok, I see where you are coming from.

I have never been a good hardcore player, but that was mostly a lack of attention on certain mechanics.
So I guess softcore fits for me more, my strength lies more in the theorycrafting min/maxing department.
I enjoy being able to try and learn builds or playstyles Ive never played and I would never reach any proper endgame content in hardcore so being able to face the shaper at all is nice for me.

Since I am trying out a champion reaver as well Im curious as in what build you followed.

I followed Mathil´s build but only loosely because I didn´t have amazing gear.
I used Bringer of Rain and took more leech nodes to be a bit more defensive.
Didn´t work out for me though.

To be fair, Mathil is one of the few players that I see on SC that benefit from the SC environment.
He has done so many Bossfights, that he could do them on HC as well.
He also only plays Melee characters so he knows what he´s doing.

My life was pretty low and my only real defensive layer was the knockback from Lions Roar and
Vaal Grace. His build should be able to do all the content but I don´t think it´s the right build
in an SSF environment for me now. My gear was just not good enough.

I need something that stays far away from the damage. A totem build, another summoner or maybe
a molten strike assassin with huge life gain on hit will be my next attempt.
To be fair this Quad Essence Mob would´ve been a challenge for any True Melee build that doesn´t have some insane defensive layers.

This is the final form of Mathils Champion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMXnNE5fWFE
The character went through many transformations so if you want to follow his build
this is the best one. As with all of Mathils builds the dmg should be there, the survivability lies
in the players own hands. 198% increased life so it´s not a SC build.
Have fun trying it out. Should be good if you can gear it right.

Oh! I meant on the Eye of Desire, for me too. I imagine I'll misjudge soon enough.

But yes, that Daresso quote fits too. It's on the Perseverence Vanguard Belt, funnily enough :)

I wasn't saying you should have skipped, just that it would have been an unguageable leap in difficulty. It sounds like it was a fitting (welcomed?) end for that character. Re-roll, when you're ready.

Cyclone summoner?
