The LA/FW situation is getting out of control
I'm guilty as well for using it but last night in Prophecy arena EVERYONE was LA, like 8 players using the exact same skill combo (builds were different though, mine require a lightning skill to work for example). Now that the mobility problem of rangers is solved either by beeing pathfinder, using Onslaught or LW, there is not much reason to use anything else.
It's a serious concern as I don't see the meta shifting at all in the coming months. It's probably gonna get worse with the millions of Reach of the Council who's gonna get dumped in STD in 2 weeks. I mostly blame Frost Wall for this because it negate the weakness of LA at close range and the need to get another skill for those situation (like barrage or blast rain). You think this is bad, you have no idea what's coming once Reach of the Council will get introduced in STD and everyone will have access to monster damages.

Heh, spent the last few days in sarn.
Here are the builds I saw: LA (almost always. Don't even fucking need frost wall. Just stack the shit out of AoE) EA (boom boom boom. Stack AoE. Glass cannon. Yay!) Kinetic Blast (frost wall, aoe, proj speed, boom boom from middle of sarn, aim in general direction of a spawn point and you'll hit it, even if you spawn behind a motherfucking wall) Ice shot (more offscreening) Some trappers (bunch of different kinds of traps or mines. Mostly because you at least get a chance to kill offscreeners if they decide to not hug the same 2 square meters for 9 hours) SRS + poison cloud (stack the shit out of minion speed + duration, minions follow you for a full lap around sarn!) Jorge's flameblaster/firestorm (wow, flameblast? Gtf outta here you hipster) Tanks using vortex (basically try to outlive offscreeners and use a broken skill with no pvp scaling) That's literally it. Maybe myga and ahfack using their melee builds every once in a while. It all revolves around offscreening. Being tanky basically serves no purpose. Especially for them. It's really just a clusterfuck of invisible projectiles coming from every direction. Most fun I've had was playing vs jorge's flameblaster today cause there was actually some moving around and having to outplay/outthink the other. And that's just sarn...I mean bring any of those offscreeners to 1v1 arenas with the insanely small maps and you're fucked. " I'm kiiiinda with you on this one. Lost to that KeilC guy (Pathfinder, ultra-indie Ascendancy class nobody uses), that AoE shit is pretty crazy. But I kinda feel like KB deserves a bit of leeway since it's not exactly common, or easy to gear for, at least not on a budget. Lavender or Leave.

I used to play a melee Pathfinder in PvP (not Shin's build) that used EQ, but I dropped it because I couldn’t get near offscreeners, no matter how I maneuvered or stacked movement or attack speed. All they had to do to compensate for movement was adjust their mouse slightly. And when Brood Twine exists, you can forget about defense. Worth mentioning is that LA is also very popular in pve, and as the temp leagues are the most populated ones there will be lots of LA that have no intention to "pvp 4 real" and they're just joining for some fun. Doubt many of them will play in standard.
