Someone just pointed out to me that you had made a bear trap build and I was worried I made an unwanted copy.

But turns out we had completely different ideas and chose different routes entirely.

I'm using 9 hair triggers for 350% trigger radius.
I went crit with scaling from phys rather than non crit + damage conversion/ele overload.

You're probably 10 times tankier. I wanted 1 shots.
Crit Shockwave Totem 650k +: #1657327 / Crit VMS (1 mil DPS): #1511368 / Crit self-cast spark: #1565708
1.3 crit firestorm: #1280086 / 1.3 crit Ice Nova: #1219809 / Flame Nova (sire of shards incinerate): #1359847

well the weird part is that lapiz already one shots, doesnt he?

replacing added fire with cold pen will increase avg impact damage.

surely tooltip will be a lot less impressive :P
Problem: impostor syndrome
Solution: nerf everything
Result: depressing mess

I've never seen his trapper in game.

well it deals avg ~3k dmg per trap i think

so can 1shot like 11k hp or smthing

I meant to discuss this with you actually.

In this image the dots are the actual traps and the circles are the trigger radius.

They're in a cluster trap formation.

With the way bear trap works, if someone moves towards the cluster like in arrow #1, only 1 trap will jump to him and the others wont since the first trap stopped the player's movements.

You then have to cast an additional cluster to get multiple hits.

If someone moves towards the cluster like in arrow #2, 2 traps will trigger.

And if someone uses a movement skill and lands IN the cluster (which isn't super likely, but it can happen), they'll get hit by all 5 traps.

I understand you're using cluster trap to trigger elemental overload and also get overlaps. And also you're doing blasphemy + temp chains so you can stay near targets and spam clusters on them, but wouldn't it just be safer to do like I'm doing and use single traps with no "less" multipliers? I'm getting guaranteed 1 shots without needing to be near someone or to recast traps.

Ele overload should be triggered with lvl 1 cwdt+icespear.

The reason I use cluster is because it simply provides most damage because of its T-value interaction. The char has just enough damage to ~1shot anyone consistently and still remains extremely tanky at the same time. As you can see from my tree and items, I have almost nothing offensive on me, except for the jewels.

With your setup I would imagine you will run out of traps very easily, you will get instagibbed by many many things very easily, your traps will get destroyed by other traps, your trap will get very easily countered by a simple spellecho+summonskeletons spam, your trap wont 1shot everyone if it doesnt crit and I also doubt you can 1shot 20k es even with a crit?

There are just many reasons I feel the setup I mentioned is a really good one. Almost nothing 1shots the char (crit bear trap obviously would if you managed to land one), you can spam throw the traps with almost no cooldown, you 1shot nearly everything as well, dont get countered too hard by enemy minions/traps and you have greater range or "area of effect" because of cluster.

I'd also like to remind this char is purely made for a bo7 duel. I'd imagine there can be better sarn clearers than this. The picture you provided is correct yeah but it doesn't really matter as I can spam the traps indefinitely (which is very underrated tbh)

Ah well this is where it differs.

I built mine for sarn and 3v3 CTF.

More room to move so the only thing that lands hits on me are offscreeners. Trappers just walk into my traps constantly (from the current playtesting).

I figured I was correct in my assumption of the cluster trap behavior. My playstyle is to have long lasting traps and move far away from them. So I want those traps to 1 shot. They're more of a surprise kill thing than a pressure thing like you're doing.

I do not run out of traps because I'm not required to spam them.

I'd be curious to see your trap damage against a tanky character.

You didn't post your crit chance and crit multiplier, but entering your X-Y numbers and just guessing a critchance of 80%, entering 445% critmulti gives back the pve tooltip you have, and with that setup and 0 resist penetration, the enemy having 30% crit reduction, when critting you deal a minimum of 12385 damage and a maximum of 15155 damage. When not critting a bit less than half of that.
