Can anyone give me tips on how not to suck at bosses in races haha. It just takes me an eternity to kill them (Freeze pulse / Fire trap shadow). In this case, the Brute eventually stunned and killed me. NFI how to get passed them quicker and safer

the brute has souleater try to kite away from his summons and dont kill them.(only use freeze pulse) that should work

other bosses are pretty straightforward dont stand in shocked ground from pagan god and dont stay in firestorm/lightning storm things

Cheers mate. Will remember for next one.
HOW the capital F do you guys lvl and get through content so damn fast. Honestly I just want to scream HACKERS but I know it's not true. I'm no noob but I can't get my head around the efficiency thing.

same thought here since d race started.. a noob in his 1st race season.. can only last 5mins and til lvl 5-9.. not until I watched how they play from youtube.. mostly ziggyd's , liftingnerds' and karvarousku's vids n now I can reach lvl 15-20 .. not a multitasker here so I can't switch windows as fast as they can..so that's I think 1 thing I can't get this season d rankboard is not for me...yet hehe... need time to practice it.. ranking >500 now is not much but im grateful for d pros' vids n tips out there..im enjoying more.. Longlive POE community!
If only I had set my alarm properly, I could have been 5th duelist... or more accurately last duelist.

You don't need to be a complete pro at the game or anything, just know what the bare minimum of things you need to do. Similar practices hold for normal races as the descent race, but with slight differences.

You don't need to be fully clearing everything, nor bothering with stragglers. You want to be aiming to only kill larger packs, or champion mobs, or grouping multiple packs and clearing at once. In general, you want to be 2 levels below the zone level to make sure you don't fall too far behind in experience. The zone level increases by 2 levels each zone, so try to stay near that. There's no point rushing if you're 4 levels behind, as you hit an experience penalty and it only gets harder to level.

Another thing is having a good plan of what you are going to do during the race. Skill tree, zone pathing, equipment to pick up all help. With this type of race, you are given a fair amount of currency to craft some equipment so know what sort of things you want to craft. For example, as a bow user you might want to start looking for recurve bows towards the end so you can upgrade your weapon. Or you might want to craft a ring to have resists so you aren't negative resists all the time (The difficulty changes after the second and third boss to cruel and merciless respectively). A specifically designed loot filter would probably be very helpful, so all you need is to pick up what you highlight. Of course there is RNG in crafting, but you can still get a decent time as long as you are sufficiently prepared for the bosses.

Apart from that, practice is the last thing you can do. I remember in my first descent races being completely overwhelmed but you just keep attempting them and you'll start to get a feel of what you need to do. Even just the normal races since descent champions doesn't occur that often, or outside of races with new characters or levelling an alt or something can help you improve.

Thanks for your post. I have most of it down with a ton of practicing, but I just can't make it all gel for some reason.
