Thanks for the guide! I recently started playing again after an extended break (Piety was the final boss the last time I played the game) and I am really enjoying this character. I should just start mapping about the time the expansion releases. Now that the ascendant has been revealed, what are people's thoughts about the two best sub classes for this character?

Personally I think:

Raider

25% chance to Avoid Elemental Status Ailments
2% chance to Dodge Attacks
10% chance to gain a Frenzy Charge on Kill
You have Phasing and Onslaught while on full Frenzy Charges

Slayer

30% increased Damage against Rare and Unique Enemies
10% of Overkill Damage is Leeched as Life
Always Stun Enemies that are on Full Life
15% increased Attack and Cast Speed while Leeching

It's Pathzerker for Scion. Best class is pathfinder OR necromancer with Rumi and shield for max block immortality.

Would love to see this updated for 2.2, there are so many different variations if you was to go Scion with this.
The build has been updated for 2.2 (the video remains relevant).

The optimal setup is the mix of Berzerker and Pathfinder (Pathzerker). This combination will grant you a ton of extra damage, leech, much better use of your flasks and cast speed. There is the small downside of you taking 5% increased damage however that is such a small amount and shouldn't matter too much anyway.

I still consider the scion and the above combination the best of all the alternatives. The skill-tree is more efficient and the ascendancy classes work great for this build.

That said you can go ranger and then pure Pathfinder as well if you prefer.

To make the best out of the new Ascendancy specialisation I now strongly recommend using the following flask setup:

2x Divine Seething Life Flasks of Staunching
1x Ample Basalt Flask of Warding
1x Ample Granite Flask of Ironskin
1x Taste of Hate (if you can afford it)

I have updated the skill-tree (nothing really needs changing) and added the Ascendancy instructions. Best of luck! :)

If you notice any errors please let me know so I can correct them asap!

I may try it. In doubt about BV or spark xD
My end, it justifies my means,
All I ever do is delay,
My every attempt to evade,
The end of the road
And my end....

Based on reading earlier posts in this thread your decision not to take Scion AoE nodes was based on false assumption that radius of BV has breakpoints, so you'll probably want to take them.

Vortex animation only has a few different sizes, but the actual damage range changes correctly. Source: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1526200/filter-account-type/staff

I was actually one of the people in that thread. However, I honestly still don't see any increased area of effect when speccing into additional points. For that reason, I will be cautious to recommend those points. Feel free to go for them however if you want to try it out for yourself =)
