Yeah aegis is one of the few things that can really help against firestorm, i have fought a few but once i stack a lot of firestorms they will still end up dying from too many crits landing, also cwdt molten will take him down with that reckoning trigger etc.

Still strongly feel it's best to avoid dwelling in Firestorms too long ingeneral. Unless you've already tested the waters or it's not stacked over and over on a stationary caster it's a bad idea especially when crits are a factor.

I like to treat Firestorm like Cyclone, if you're moving often it lowers the damage output significantly. It's not strong enough to be namelocked on you and drop you quicker then you can get out of its radius. Though again, arena design makes it reaaaaaally hard to play this way against this skill. Against sucky Firestormers that want to just sit there and stack on themselves you can just abuse range and move when they target you, rinse repeat. You'll eventually be pinned down to some degree anyways due to arena size even if the Firestormer doesn't have good screen control. If they do control space well, you're left with few options besides what Lapiz said. Face tanking hit for hit as you attack and they stack more and more. It's simply suicide if you're not crit yourself and even then takes a lot of resources.

So hount, you use concentrated effect pretty much constantly with firestorm? What are you impressions? I did not test much coz the AoE seemed very low at first.

anyway I re-speced to this

tool-tip dmg is around 40-50% higher (as well as x-y coz firestorm tooltip does not account for cast speed), cast speed is significantly less - 3.5 compared to 4 (coz I dropped FC for another support).

Atm feels very clunky, cant get used to no ZO and lower cast speed. Haven't played anyone tho, but PvE is quite awkward like this xD.

This is something I would probably go for. Celestial Judgement and Heart of Flame are really good.. The 5% penetration they provide alone gives you around 8% more dmg.

When it comes to jewels I would pick nothing else but cast speed basically.

You are right about fire penetration, its a big drawback in my build, however the build you link has several problems for which I don't like the solutions off:
-relies only on ES as mitigation, no block, no regen, which is ok with a large es pool, however I will have same or lower es then I do currently due to the lack of shield nodes, which provide insane boosts to ES with a 500 es shield, even tho the build itself has higher increased ES.
-lack of dex nodes, which means either wasting one stat in gear/one node (quite hard for me, altho with the lack of block I can drop my spell block variant items and have enough dex), or getting jewels with dex stats (I already have one and I don't like it), or not using a dagger (not acceptable atm).
-2 jewel slots less than currently have.

In my opinion this will be a much more of a glass cannon build, which is not a big problem, I played several glass cannon builds before, but with such builds you really want high per hit output and solid move speed, which is not the case here. Firestorms cast slow, no ms nodes or items apart the boots, to kill anyone you need overlapping storms, its dmg can be compared to a dot.

But if I am not satisfied with current setup, I might probably try something similar to your suggestion with the free respec. I might be missing something.
