Alf's Hideout 3, The Castle. (standar)

Video

Temple(map device)
One of the Order's oldest artifacts, the map device, is in the center of the room. The room must be kept in conditions because teleporting is not a game and problems might occur if you are not carefull. Not many people is allowed in this room.

Hall
This is the main room of the castle, a place to recieve visitors, generally guys who want to buy some precious artifacts that i gather in my travels, (yes, i am always killing dragons and saving damsels in distress, so i find a lot of of them). Its also a nice place to rest and meditate, to take a break from the dangers of Wraeclast.

Bedroom
This is where magic happends, i am talking of the enchanting of wands and sceptres, naturally. Its also the best place to take a nap, it has the right ilumination and its far away from the kitchen. And you REALLY want to be far from the kitchen if you are willing to rest, because the noise is insufferable. Maybe i just should fire the butcher, that damn butcher.

Workshop
If you need a fine weapon or a sharp blade, or just need to repair ur armour (yes, we say armour in Wraeclast) this is the place where you should be heading to. Its also full of rats and a copper smell, but cleaning it would be painfull so i just let it be.

Lobby
This is the lobby, its messy and dirty, but noone cares because its the lobby. The statue in the center must be important, but it was already there when i adquired the place, so i dont even know what its representing, but it looks nice.

Kitchen
There is always a big fire on and the smell of a fresh pastries is irresistible. Of course, it also has its downsides, the grease in the floor and walls is nasty and sticky, but hell no!, we wont stop frying roas.

The Overgrown Library, Standard Hideout

Spoiler

Welcome to what used to be a library. It was quite overgrown when I found and tamed the area. I now work on studying the ecosystem here. It is quite an odd one, as I'm sure you can see. I work hard to keep this library from going back completely to forest, and currently I have a found happy balance.

Spoiler

Here we have Leo, my butler, in charge of helping me keep my note in order about this fascinating ecosystem. Also, you can see Wilton fishing here. I'm always amazed at his luck, he has some of the remains of his spoils at his feet.

Spoiler

Here we have most of the forest. Much of it has been cut back, and now is maintained by Tora, who helps to keep the bushes trimmed. She has even started her own pumpkin patch. Catarina seem to have run off hunting for another body to disect. I'm pretty sure all these corpses are what allows all of the animals here to continue to thrive.

Spoiler

Here we have Haku, the blacksmith. I have him sharpen all the hatchets and make any other things we require. He works on his off hours making artwork...but he is such a critic of his own work. :( Vagan is usually here helping him with the forging, but he seemed to have run off on an errand. Better than Kevin who is asleep by the couch I guess.

Spoiler

Here we have repaired and cleaned some of the statues that were originally in the library. Vorici usually is here tinkering, and rebuilding new ones, must have run off for tools today.

Spoiler

Librarian Elreon resides here. He is going through and sorting through the piles of remaining books. Hopefully he doesn't end up like that poor fellow in the corner there.

Spoiler

Here we have the nest of the reclusive baby rhoa. I'll have to bring a new kill for him, looks like he has finished off last weeks.

Spoiler

And finally here is Zana. She seems to like decorating the place up, and I let her do it. It makes for such lovely lighting for looking at my treasures from my travels.

Enjoy the story I made for the place. And now to go tell Leo to find a bucket of water...looks like there were some foxes playing in the fire again >.<
(also, I have no idea how to re-size pictures, help??)

Be nice, I'm not very good at this.
A dark forest, created in standard.

Images!

The waypoint emits a a blue light, but the rest of this place is overgrown and unlit. This clearing must have a dark and mysterious past.

Surrounding the clearing is an impenetrable mass of forest growth. What backstory might this place possess?

Nah, I'm pulling your leg. There's no narrative. The idea behind this place is to completely hide the underlying Zana tileset, in order to achieve an immersive dark forest hideout. Now, this could be done with Catarina's hideout as well, and much easier--but then we wouldn't have the Solaris Temple music :D

The "stairs" here, covering up a set of Solaris Temple stairs, are created by layering cannibal sheets at different heights and placing bushes at their feet.

The map device is surrounded by a copse of Tora's "Forest Tree" and "Dry Tree" decorations, as they are tall enough to cover all the way from floor level to the top of the camera's view. The background in Zana's tileset is, by default, a light brown-grey haze--which betrays the dark forest atmosphere. By placing numerous tall trees around the peremeter of each area, this background is blocked out almost completely.

Also used as blocking objects are many Vorici's "Tree" decorations, which are similarly tall and have enough surface area to block out a large part of the screen. Vagan's "Crane" decorations are also used frequently, as I have found they are the only decoration that reaches out far enough to bridge some areas of the base hideout. Dark Cargo Wagons have been used for the same effect.

Also used are numerous verdant decorations, to create the feeling of, well, a forest. Zana's tileset is still there, but only if you look with a discerning eye. The challenge with this hideout was mostly to come up with solutions to block out areas that are hard to reach with most decorations.

The untamed forest!

League: Standard
Master hideout: Tora

Fighting nature is never an option, so best is to work with it. With this hideout nature has only been pushed back as far as needed. There's a place to relax, grow food, learn from masters, keep prisoners, and do some crafting work. Then last but not least, a place to keep the earnings from combat.

- Vale of Exiles
- Standard League
- The theme is about a small riverside town that built right in front of the most ancient mausoleum in all of Wraeclast.

Full story & description: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1220579

Description below each image

Player's stash is carefully hidden as part of the shop counter which an NPC oversees making it feel like the player is speaking to the NPC when accessing his/her stash. Sewer grates made using metal beams. One of the master bench is made to look like part of the building so that the player feels like he/she is entering the "shop" to get some "npc" crafting services.

The insides of all the building (viewable by the player camera at least) are decorated to make the buildings look lived in and functional.

Entrance to the mausoleum is purposefully collapsed surrounded by death and destruction all around (fire, rubble, etc) and Haku standing guard and blending in the background lighting with his own reddish glow. The waterfall provides a good water source for the blacksmith.

Bridge in the middle of the map with waving flags and blowing leaf effects to make it look like a strong gale of wind is blowing from crashing waterfalls.

Entrance leading to the valley blocked by a overturned carriage. Leo is made to look like the dockmaster holding a ledger and inspecting the crates. Again, a masters bench is hidden (but still accessible) as part of the building.

The map device is masked as a stone shrine. Encircling the shrine are 6 stone pillars with a skull on top (skull display wrapped in stone) and a torch to give it that fiery effect.

Once the portals are opened, it looks as though the portals are beamed out from the skulls giving it a trance like gaze from the skulls.

Hideout is made in Standard League

Initial Idea

Ok...so...
Lights...and colours...
That's the basic idea behind my hideout.
Who doesnt like wonderful colours and dazzling lights :D

My hideout is based on Elreons, small but oh so cozy, enlightened hideout. This is due to the fact that I wanted to play around with lights as best I could and Elreons hideout is by far the darkest one from the start.
The concept is to just use my imagination to create different light effects throughout different areas but still give it a sense of being a livable space.
...more to come...maybe...

Elysium - a paradize for the most valorous heroes, as it was in the Roman Empire lore. No filthy exile here, no market shop : only facilities to directly help heroes in their endeavour, or simple gardens for them to relax.

Account : Serrã. Standard league. Login email availlable on private message request (not dropping that on the forum ;-) )

A general view of the hideout entrance (you will notice falling leaves, as well as fog on the portal)
